DesktopX 3.5 Pro

Losing Impulse...

Monday, January 16, 2012 by RedneckDude | Discussion: DesktopX

Guys I need some help here. And I need it badly.

Finally taking the plunge and uninstalling Impulse. On installing DX Pro 3.5 from the Stardock Store I find that DX will load and run, but any and all scripted items won't run.

This is definitely not good...lol. Can a redneck get some support over here?  Please.....

Dangit!! Jim had a crisis and I slept right through it. There goes my raise.

I hope support can fix this fast. Y'all know how cranky Jim gets without his DX.

Are they set to enabled in DX builder?

Yes, they are. Murex has the same problem. I'm sure the DX 3.5 Pro in in the store is broken.

I can install and use the 3.96 beta with no problems, but it isn't Pro.

In order to turn off scripting in DX, each item that is scripted would have to be right clicked and disabled.

The non Pro beta works fine. Why do I no longer have access to the Pro beta? Just asking...

Also, let me report that I had to install, and reinstall WB 3 times to get it to work after uninstalling everything with Impulse.  Impulse didn't correctly uninstall it either, I had to uninstall WB via add/remove too.

I would advise that those who are uninstalling Impulse to uninstall WindowBlinds first. Uninstalling MyColors and SKS first makes Impulse take WB out of the list of installed apps.

What happens if you install the 3.96, and then install the 3.5 to another folder, the run the 3.5 executables.

But...I've just noticed something. I have a fresh install of Windows 7, a fresh install of 3.96 from the shop...AND..it lets me export to gadget!

Tried that, no help.

I'm finding 3.96 to be quite palatable. Nothing really new from what I can see, but it seems pretty stable. The only crash I get is when an object has an invisible last character as it's text, the navigator windows kills DesktopX.

Pro has always allowed exporting to gadget. Am I misunderstanding you?

That version has disappeared from my store page too. Only Pro I see is 3.5 which is bad.

No sorry, I am trying to say - try DX3.96 Pro Which you would, if you could download it

It's disappearing, reappearing DesktopX!  Well, at least the first part.  Looking into the second part...

While you're looking into that, can you look into fixing the 3.5 Pro non beta that is in the store now? Please, and thank you.
