Themes causing toggle boxes to be invisible

Tuesday, January 10, 2012 by desiree | Discussion: Object Desktop

Hello, I am running windows7 64bit. I have an nvidia quadro fx card. I have the latest edition of object desktop.

My problem:

Whenever I skin (using theme manager or windowblinds) toggle boxes and such become invisible. The toggle boxes, radial buttons, all of those things do not show up. When I unload the skin, the boxes (etc) show up again. And sometimes RIGHT after skinning they will still  be visible. But within minutes they are no longer visible.

Can anyone please help me? I really want to have my system skinned, but it's not useable with important page and dialog elements not visible.

Information helps.

What version of WindowBlinds?

What skins?

Every skin?

What applications is this affecting?  Every application?

Can you provide a screenshot?

WindowBlinds version : WindowBlinds 7.3 (build 310 - Windows 7 Edition) - 64 bit OS

WindowBlinds is installed correctly on this PC
WindowBlinds appears to be activated on this PC
(Generic PnP Monitor) 1 is attached to NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI
(Generic PnP Monitor) 2 is attached to NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI

It's with every skin and yes, affecting all applications.

Here is a screenshot just after skinning

see how SOME show, but most don't. After a few minutes NONE will be showing.

It sounds like you are using either XP only skins or or using the wrong substyle. Try one that is exclusively for Win7 ans see what happens.

It is any and all skins are doing this. Even if I use theme manager or windowblinds.

Lemme guess... This happens when you use the Pale Moon browser?

What application is that you are using.  With the cropping, it's very hared to see what's going on . . (and impossible to help you).

That is firefox. But it does it on dialog boxes too if there are checkboxes or the like. So it's most noticeable when browsing with firefox, but other similar issues occur within windows and other applications as well.

And actually I've never heard of the Pale Moon browser, hehee, so nope.

So to kind of recap:

anytime I use any skin for object desktop toggle boxes and radial buttons and those sort of things no longer are visible.

Here is another example from firefox:

this is with skinned:

And here is after unloading the skin:

Another example is on this page itself. When I have a skin running, I can't see the post button, I just see the text. When skin is disabled, I can see the button.

The reason I asked is because I have the exact same issue/problem when using Pale Moon, but not with FireFox.
(Pale moon is a 'stripped down' version of FireFox)

I actually did email tech support. They told me to come here and ask. I did NOT find tech support to be helpful. But there is a serious issue, and I paid for a service I can not use due to pertinent information being hidden from view. I'm so frustrated. I love object desktop and I hate windows themes! WAAHHHH!

Snowman, are you still having the same issue or did you solve the problem now?

Ok, resent help request. I had been talking to Aaron Klenke, and he said I should ask here.

Are you using multiple accounts with different emails?   Forget it, I found your other email.
Heh.  I advised you to take you "design" issues to the forums . . as in when you are looking for ideas.

You might post your skin design issues at https://forums.wincustomize.com
There is a community of skinners that should be able to offer skin creation support.

Too funny.

Sorry i hope i do understand this the correct way... you have problems with almost every skin on your computer that you apply with the problem that
check boxes or radial boxes wont show or wont add the selected button state ?
Windows 7 (sometimes) acts strange and the skin has to be unloaded and the normal aero skin in windowblinds has to be selected and applied before any other skin will work.
Open windowblinds unload the skin now select Aero and apply it .
If this worked you can try to change from Aero to your favourite skin.
Just tested it with the latest version of Mozilla Firefox and it should work. But as i see from your screenshot the check boxes have pixels in them looks like dirt snow or dust maybee its  a compatibility issue.Does the skin your trying to use have transparency ?

If you recently changed any Hardware component of your computer like the graphic card for example the old windows experience index isnt valid anymore and that can cause problems: At least it did for me a couple of times... If you di´d change Hardware you can try this
Press start on the taskbar now select Control Panel \ System and Security System \ System --- now run the windows experience index... when done  restart your computer - and proceed with these steps Open windowblinds unload the skin now select Aero and apply it now selct your skin and try again.

Roloccolor

Yeah, I'm also having graphics issues, I have two quadros on my pc, but the second won't work. But this issue started even before I put the second card in.

I tried the Aero trick, it didn't work. I also re-ran the indexing, and that didn't work either. I am running current firefox version. so, my problem is not resolved, unfortunately.

Did you try to remove the one card?
If the second card isnt working why do you still have it in there ( card connected via SLI connector ?) with both cards in the correct PCI-express slots ?
Graphic drivers should be up to date...also
You said you bought the new subscription did you remove the old Windowblind and registrty files ? ( Support can provide you a nice reg file to clean the old registry keys out ) after that you can install it again from the stardock store its a bummer i cant be more of help if that isnt working its surely a job for support
