What version are you trying to install?  Purchased or trial version?  What OS?

More info the better.

Wonder if you got a corrupted download, then.  I'd delete it, run a utility like CCleaner to clear up any file & reg remnants, reboot and D/L the installer again.  Might also right click on the WB installer .exe and run it as administrator when you do the install.  Unless those are among the 'numerous things' you've tried.

If that fails, post back with as much info about your setup as you can.

How are you trying to 'repair' it, BTW?

Impulse is no longer owned by Stardock, It's now owned by GameStop. Judging by the error message it could be due to privileges on your temp folder. Also if you have installed any previous versions, remove them before attempting to install the latest version. I would recommend using revo uninstaller.

get the wb version from the WC website.

wondering: does impulse continue to promote programs they are no longer associated with?

everything

We can't help much with vague information like that.  Unless you can be more specific about where you D/L'd the app and what specifically you've tried, what specific error messages you get, etc., we're in the dark.  Inability to install is exceedingly rare.

1:Are you installing as admin?

2:Did you install with AV/security disabled?

3:Are you installing on your system "C" drive?

4:Is this a first time install or did you have it installed before?

Yes I have installed it before it worked fine in the past, Downloaded the app from CNET, After installing I get a message is after I reboot and everything, and open app and try and load a skin it says Program not installed Properly, would you like to fix? I hit yes and it than try again to load skin and same message, have tried different skins. Than I try repair and than get a message saying enter the full pathname to be installed with the following attributes %s" for file GLBF3C.tmp . I've tried installing in same mood to ensure to program would conflict it. Tried Disabling mu norton and spyware in admin mode. I'm just as confused as ya'll.

2:Did you install with AV/security disabled?

if a program needs this is order to be installed then i do NOT want that program. I have never had to disable my security software in order to install anything from Stardock. If that was the case i would never have become a customer. plenty of companies produce applications that can install with active security (including those that tie closely in with the operating system) so it should be a no brainer for others to do the same.

Well there are alot of AV Security software packages available and not all of them behave well.

Besides the OP's issue is likely that since he has had WB installed before the trial period has expired and since WB isn't freeware it will no longer work for free either.

+1 but generally it's not necessary to disable your AV for Stardock products. It's only advised if problems occur such as the OP's problem. Nimbin I don't mean to sound like a douchebag but your post has no relevance to the OP's problem. The OP could provide more information about his/her setup.

if you installed with  impulse, you must uninstall with  impulse, then install from  stardock site  when you have done the latter-you can uninstall impulse, if you wish

The OP is the one who started this forum post so in this case it is you.

stlwill247

The trial version is for 30 days. Uninstalling and re-installing after the trial has run out will not reset the time period.

I would recommend emailing support@stardock.com and start a trouble ticket in any case and link to this forum post in the email.

No, not everyone. You just need to ask the right questions. In this case: Question #4 in reply #9 did the job.

The freeware is a trial, not a "Keep re-installing and use it forever for free."
