WB Skin is Crapping Out On Me!-Fixed
Help Please!
Thursday, December 22, 2011 by Mirsguy | Discussion: Skinning
I just finished updating Miricla for my wife. She wanted me to add snowflakes and a few other winter decorations. Everything works perfectly on my 2 machines. I have had several people test it, and for the most part, no problems. But when I load the skin on my wife's computer, it looks like Windows classic. Below are screenshots from my machine and hers, of the same skin:

I have tried the steps listed in this thread as well https://forums.wincustomize.com/414289, but it did not help.
Anyone have any bright ideas?

I have had this problem with several blinds before and applying the windows standard theme and then reapplying the skin and clicking the apply button twice has fixed it for me. Since I have had this problem before if you would like me to try it out I would be happy to try and see if worked for me. Send me a PM if you do.

Can you still load the original version on her computer? Remove this copy and try it.
Were bothe versions named the same?
Is it possible some files got overwritten?
I know, too many questions,lol.

Check that DWM is enabled.
Also, What I do to fix this is in in Windows set to normal Aero then apply the windowblind.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, but did not do a registry cleaner. I'll have to try that. Thanks!
WM, you have a PM.
Wiz, all of those concerns check out correctly. No problems there.
roflmfaoo, I'll check out the DWM issue. I did try changing to Aero first, and that didn't help.
Thanks everyone!

My best guess is some files are missing from the WBA and so WB is aborting most of the skin load apart from the frames.
Could you PM me a link to the skin please.

Could this be a part of the problem?
[taskbar.texture]
[Vista.ShellButtons]
Image=Frosted\command bar buttons new2.tga
TopHeight=7
BottomHeight=7
LeftWidth=7
RightWidth=7
NormalColour=0
DisabledColour=5
UseColourSettings=1
Trans=0
PerPixel=0
[Explorer.SelectionImage]
Image=Frosted\exp listview select img.tga
Trans=1
PerPixel=1
TopHeight=7
BottomHeight=3
LeftWidth=3
RightWidth=3
PreMultipliedAlpha=0
Vert=1
GlyphVert=1
[taskbar.texture] is 'empty'
[Vista.ShellButtons], [Explorer.SelectionImage] and all sections after this looks for images in a non-existing folder. (Frosted)
Doc gave me a copy yesterday for testing. "Blew up" an application and left the taskbar and startmenu unskinned (Win98 style).
My OS is Vista 64 bit.

Looks awesome on 7. Sorry Brian, I should have run it on Vista. I forget I have Vista sometimes.

The issue is a number of sections reference the frosted skin.
WB will disable most skinning if the skin lacks a button image which in this case points to a skin that does not exist.
So a quick fix is to install the frosted skin on the machine which will then make it work fine, or you can edit the skin in SKS to correct all the sections which point to missing graphics.

Jim, this will be a W7 only skin. I don't know how it'll work on Vista.
Neil, thank you very much. When I copied certain graphics out of Frosted, I assumed that the "Make WBA Package" command would pull all images together. I learned something.
I will have time tonight to fix this. Thanks!

Have you try uninstalling WB, run a registry cleaner, and then reinstalling WB?
