Brad Wardell is a nazi and deleted my news post after I gave good reason!

Monday, October 22, 2001 by l0c | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I have plenty of respect for most of the folks at SD but this is complete BS! You were just waiting for an excuse to delete that weren't you Brad? Cuz I proved you wrong and showed the world that it is possible without your damn app! (Sorry Neil) I reported a crime to the community and you deleted it! What, you gonna delete this one too?

hey chad :] i won't flame you, we go back too far for that. all i'll say is that i'm disappointed in loc's attitude about this entire issue. that stands out in my mind a lot more than bandying about epithets.

he and jier obviously have a similar mind on this [and many other issues outside skinning, since they're now living under one roof.] i've talked to both of them before, many times with loc on irc, and i've interviewed jier for tek.

one thing that surprises me, regardless of opinion, is the devisiveness. i had thought both were in favor of promoting gui customisation as an art form. how can tearing down the image of one of the main tools in that genre help this? i would hate to think that this art form has merely become a venue for exercising ones hubris over their coding skills.

also, it's not possible to deny the obvious animosity from both jier and greg in the news/discussion thread at da. where is this coming from? is stardock, in the person of brad, merely seen now as part of the greater faceless 'establishment?' i, for one, expected more presence of forethought.

I agree that censorship at this sight has gotten sadly out of hand, but hey that's just my opinion. I understand the need to run a business though, so I can see both sides.

I can also understand getting angry at something you think is legit getting censored...

But "Nazi" ?? Obviously someone doesn't even grasp what pure hatred can do.

on the question of censorship though, this specific situation doesn't really apply. accusing people of criminal wrongdoing in public can result in a lot of unpleasantness, and isn't exactly legal. in a case like this, it's required of the responsible party to make sure legal rights aren't infringed upon. for example, a tv station, even after a disclaimer like '..their viewpoints don't necessarily express..' will still be very wary of anyone making criminal accusations on the air :]

This is extremely sad. I missed the news post and just noticed this thread.

l0c - you've gone over the edge... get some perspective.

l0c: i dont know what your problem is as of late but it needs to stop. first you submit a derogatory and threatening news article to deviantART then you start in with this Nazi stuff. you need to either take a break or just get lost all-together.

...in fact, you WILL be gone from DA.

I support Brad 100% with him deleting posts. He has every right to keep this site I nice place for the community. What many people fail to realize is the first ammendment is a protection of being censored by the government. Private organizations have every right to censor speach and to keep things running smoothly on websites and such.

I'm still wondering whether I would have had the balls to delete this thread had I seen it first, before other respondents.
'Fascist' would have been less objectionable than 'Nazi'. It isn't just a case of semantics....maybe I'm just old enough to know the difference.
Had I deleted it, I would simply have suggested to l0c to reword it.

The policy on Wincustomize.com is zero tolerance on personal attack, slander, libel, warez....and other 'obvious' transgressions of moral decency.

That probably means this thread will go. Hmm, I hadn't even read the news post yet. By the way, how would you know who deleted the newspost?

While I won't delve into the issue or right or wrong on either of the issues involved, it saddens me to see so many of these type "battles" going on within this "community". Has this type of stuff been going on for years and I just haven't seen it yet, as I'm a newcomer?

Now I see why it's hard for newbies like myself to get comments, advice or encouragement when I post a skin. Obviously the elders of our community are too busy on the message boards to be able to download a skin and offer someone some advice or encouragement.

David, ESP is really a pretty mellow skin. Traffic is a little loud for my tastes, but I thought that it displays a GREAT sense of humor. Really made me smile.
Are you planning on doing any skins optimized for XP? I am running XP Wood at home, and Forest XP at work and I have really developed a taste for them.
As to the number of battles going on, I just posted a thread called War Of Words. It is not just our community that is tense. The attack on the WTC, the attacks against Afganistan, the uncertain economy, I think we are all on edge.
Peace, love and skinning to all.

Brad Wardell a Nazi? Committed atrocity? Wow. He must be pretty old. I wonder if he was at Auschwitz or Dachau?

Please, please, please don't turn this place into a flame board like Customize, Skinz, and Deviantart. I thought this is where the adults come to play.

Never saw the news posting. So no idea who was justified doing what. Maybe deletion was warranted, maybe it wasn't.

Maybe none of you have ever called anyone else a f*ckhead, or a$$hole; lord knows i have. point is, to the person you're using that term to, it's usually construed as being quite offensive. Probably moreso than hearing secondhand a third party being called a nazi.

so, to me, you're all being hypocrites... unless you've -really- never called anyone a f*ckhead (or insert your own favorite curse..).

When I combine the contents of this thread plus the "we love brad" thread right below it, i get the impression of a large herd of grass eating sheep, or, in more offensive (but apparently more politically correct than calling all of you nazis) terms, a buncha pollitically correct asslickers...

This has been a very depressing return to the skinning scene. Like a groundhog, guess winter's not over yet... someone wake me up when we go back to 98, k?

hi jafo. observers are good things to have...

for the record, both of my folks were in concentration camps; 3 of my grandparents died in them. So sod off on that track, even before you start.

(not you, jafo - just kinda pre-responding to others..)

Yes - don't you dare respond to the famous Shoggot. He's the king of the skinning scene. He'll tell us what to do.

When you sit and type a message, you have time to think and reflect on what you are going to say. Some people obviously don't realise the difference between shouting an insult, and strongly disagreeing with someone's point of view.

Hypocrite - The single most overused word on any messageboard.
