Having problem with "Edit Account"

Tuesday, June 29, 2004 by Lady Aarielle | Discussion: Stardock Software

When I go to "edit account" and then to "upload / edit your desktop image" it behaves as if it has uploaded the new picture, but does not change it.

Also, it shows one picture ( a much older one) in "edit account and a different one when I click on my name in the message boards.

Anyone have a clue what's going on?

In other words I cannot view what I upload.

Only you or others that click on my name.

No matter what I upload it remains as it is right now for me.

Bold= Highlight and click on the 'B' to the right.

Yes, I understand. The problem appears that for some reason your not getting past the update part...thus sometimes I can see it and sometimes I can't. The more important problem is why you can't see it at all. You should see exactly what anyone else can see. Something is running on your machine that is toying with us. Is there anything that you have installed since the last time you can remember being able to update your Screenshot correctly?

BTW: The screenshot showing is called 'My Profile', it is the correct size, but it is a shot of your 'Desktop Update' page with a small 'Ocean' in the preview section (although that appears to be too small)

No, not that I can recall.
For a while I thought that maybe the site would only take one update per day, but then that would mean that no one else would be able to view the new uploads either.
So, I discarded that idea when I realized that you were seeing everything I was uploading.

The only thing that happened about five months back was that something caused my firewall to cease working. I would click on it and nothing would happen. So I eventually removed it and went to redownload it, but everything on the system seemed to continue to work properly so I just forgot about it.

I can't think of anything else.

Should I just try and see if I can change it again tomorrow?

This could be one of those 'Lifetime' missions...

I don't think the Firewall thingy is the problem....but then again...

Let me play around with mine and see if I can replicate it on my computer and then we'll know...if not, I think we'll just have to shoot something

Wow, that's strange cause I took that last shot of 'My Profile' with 'PhotoImpression'.

I just noticed...in the 'My Profile' screenshot, in the lower right corner, it has 'Logged in' and 'Reg. Info'. What browser are you using?

Hahahaha

Yeah, well I feel like shooting this sometimes.

Thanks for everything and I'll try uploading tomorrow and see if anything changes.

Thanks for everything, Yrag.
See ya, tomorrow.
I'll be the one with the boots and a 357 mag.

Why do strange things happen to me?

Check out this shot... see anything strange?
It says, "Welcome Lady Aarielle" and at the same time it's telling me log in failed! On top of that I just went to edit account without logging in and it uploaded, supposedly. Click on my name and see if it uploaded?
I did it with PhotoImpression.

There's an ongoing cookie problem...stay in IE, kill the cookies and log into the site. Now upload the screenshot you want showing using IE.

OK I closed SDC so do I have to log out of that as well? or just log out from IE?

Do they work independently of each other or together. Do I just kill the cookies from one and not worry about the other?

Forget about SDC...open the WC site in IE and log in, then upload. Don't re-open SDC until we try this through IE.

Just kill the cookies in IE...they're one and the same as SDC
