I see all kinds of bad stuff about reddit on CNN. Child porn, etc.

Yes...probably NOT the ideal site/hosting site to have your links/stuff associated with.

Then again, prior to today I was totally unaware of 'reddit'....it's enough that we are obliged to put up with Myspace and Facebook.

The LAST thing this world needs is yet another 'social network'.

Get REAL FRIENDS, people....

Another one of those sites for the socially inept and the mentally disturbed.

My Facebook solution works here too:-

1) go to control panel

2) deactivate account

3) go outside

Fits most of Wincustomize's visiters just right then.

Agree you will always know when a facebook addict isnt at home or what he is doing at this very moment its ideal for robbers and company´s to get any sort of valuable information they want. They tested this in germany and just confronted people infront of their houses when they were returning from work -on the parking lot  right after work - restaurants and so on.These folks can be happy that it was only a test/report on how Facebook could harm you if you post to much or every movement precisely you will get in trouble sooner or later. For addicts its like a GPS footchain that attached to you permanently.
But its fun aswell you get to play browser -flash based games you  get invites- pokes- PM from people that you never every have seen in your life.
REDDIT TAGGED WKW or many more the list goes on and on...makes me wonder why Myspace isnt as popular as FB isnt Myspace much older ?

Hey, I actually enjoy reading Reddit, plus it's linked to from Wired.com. Reddit is definitely not for children (then again, neither is DeviantArt, for instance), but they have some very interesting IAMAs (I am a...) and AMAs (Ask Me Anything...).

Too bad those guys on reddit.com/r/customization/ haven't found out about Winstep applications yet.

That's because these users are morons, who use a public profile.
On this subject Facebook isn't any worse than eks. Wincustomize.

~sigh~ child porn, that was r/jailbait and it has been shut down. Perhaps if you looked at the site and judged for yourself?

Or if you really need another news source to tell you its not that scary, perhaps you should see how many amazing things we have done for people http://voltiercreative.com/2010/11/reddits-astonishin-altruism/

Just what does reddit offer and what is it, is it a skinning community site?

reddit itself is a social news aggregate site. but it has SUB forums, the forum I'm talking about is specifically catered to skinning and customization. But there are a lot of sub forums on there for all kinds of interests

let me start by saying all sub-fourms come after reddit.com  ie  reddit.com/r/documentaries is a sub dedicated to.. you guessed it, documentaries (check them out!) they talk about inside job, the vice guides, planet earth from BBC etc  or you have r/politics, r/psychology or my personal favorite r/cats which is.. duh all about the kittehs!  If you only go to reddit.com you see a "frontpage" which is basically a list of the top voted stories or pictures from all of the sub forums or "sub reddits". Now, there CAN be a lot of drivel on there which is why you go to the "edit" function and subscribe or unsubscribe to things that follow or don't follow your own personal interests. Just yesterday on r/technology I saw a post on Quantum Levitation, which was a wicked video on youtube about using superconductors and magnets.

Now you don't EVER have to friend anyone, hell you don't even have to talk, you can just peruse to your hearts content, you don't even have to sign up for an account if you don't wish, and just bookmark r/customization if you want to watch. I am just trying to get more people interested and talking. I know some people have heard bad things about ONE of the subs from CNN, but I promise that is not us nor does it represent the rest of the site or its subs

nor does it represent the rest of the site

It does if the SITE allows THAT kind of sub to exist on it.  Just saying.

You bring up DeviantArt, a place where I took down all my skins in protest to the things they allow to go on at their site.

If a site allows/condones bad things to be used/seen/posted/uploaded, etc. to their site/domain, then the SITE is bad.

I agree with RedneckDude on this, the site belongs to someone, they need to take responsibility for the site, and the content on it.

Not that it matters but are you that person jayde_drag0n?

You know I'm European, so my point of view on that stuff might be a bit different from yours.

If a site is an adult site and recognizes itself as such, then you know you will find good and bad things there (as in life - and you know 'good' and 'bad' are VERY relative notions in this case, what utterly shocks someone, might leave someone else totally unfazed, depending on culture and other factors). Up to you to read the good and ignore the bad.

Not talking about criminal things such as child porn, of course (Jeezus, didn't even know about that, I just go to Reddit via Wired.com). Anyway, they did shut it down, according to jayde_drag0n, so it's kind a mute point.

Thank you JcRabbit. And the site doesn't allow or condone the actions taken by the members of the story that CNN reported on.. that's why it was removed for violating the TOS. The admins are responsible and do their best. And as far as who I am, I am only a moderator on r/customization, and r/bakersfield. I used to be a mod on r/assistance and r/domesticviolence before I stepped down for a bit (burnout happens on those forums). Reddit also has one of the most active suicide prevention and rape counseling forums around.
