You will never again cringe when you come across another *.dockzip

I cannot believe how excited I am over being able to open a file. I have pulled my hair out trying to install *.dockzip files for objectdock. I researched and read volumes of forums, blogs and tech pages and trying every suggestion I came across im my quest to figure out how to open these files. I was really starting to develop a bit of an obsession in my effort to unlock the secret. I wasn't the only one. I read so many comments on the problems these files were causing a good number of us and was absolutely puzzled that most of the developer's had no real solution (this I can attest to) about this issue. But I HAVE FOUND THE ANSWER TO OPENING *.DOCKZIP files .
I was downloading from WinCustomize after upgrading windows a few minutes ago and one of the icons I wanted was wrapped up in the dreaded *.dockzip file, but I had just downloaded a zip program that offers a free trial period. I opted to open the *.dockzip rather than save and this zip program for me exactly what I kept hearing is supposed to happen when you download one this type of file. It not only unzipped the file, it put the contents in the correct files. It was so easy, quick and best of all, it required absolutely no effort on my part. I love it!
For anyone still fighting the *.dockzip battle, you have to get WINZIP to fight your battle with the *.dockzip bear. I have included the link for you.
I am now going to look for all those dockzip files I wanted but couldn't have!

Nope, you are exactly right xinh2. A lot of Stardocks programs are like that, for instance a .wba (Windowblinds) file for can have the same thing done to it, rename to .zip and open it up.

xinh2 and LightStar are correct. Rename .dockzip to .zip and unzip using any zip program (7zip is free), and just drop the files into "Backgrounds".

This person just joined, makes it sound like the problem has been a on going thing with them and no offense meant and also again I may be wrongThere are answers to what to do with dockzip files in the forums and not to hard to find. This looks like it's a spam link thing to me for winzip. Just say-in as I really don't like spam links to push something.

Thanks for the quick action on that Jafo. I knew immediately it was a clever ploy to spam the members here and it ticked me off that the spammer thinks we are so stupid and gullible.

It's just as well. It's been a looong time since I got excited about unzipping something.
unless something was caught in the zipper.

Dockzip file is not a renamed zip file, Jeff created it as a proper file type. It cannot be opened by any zip program, the only way to be able to open a dockzip file is with version 1.5 to 1.9 of Objectdock. Addressing this, it put the contents in the correct files, If Byrlyne meant it put them in the proper folders, ie. backgrounds in backgrounds folder, icons in images folder, again only Objectdock would be able to do this, a zip proggie would not know where to put the different items as it is not programmed to.

I thought .dockzip files were just .zip files renamed... so you could just rename xyz.dockzip to xyz.zip and open it using any program that could open a zip file. Maybe I am wrong...
