About Dragon WindowBlind

Any chance for an update?

Wednesday, August 31, 2011 by inthebloodofeden | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

Well, I consider - and I'm sure I'm not the only one - Dragon Xtreme by WebGizmos https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/winstep/477/ and Dragon WindowBlind by Stardock https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds/6427 2 of the greatest skin available here at WinC. Now, I'm asking Stardock for a Dragon WindowBlind update: mainly, a W7 substyle is still missing. I really hope to see the WELL DESERVED update for this excellent skin. Any chance for it? Thanks in advance to anyone will be so kind to reply.

itboe, yes...  it's one of my fave skins too... we all have our preferences as to 'best', but 'Dragon' figures way up there with lots of us, I'd bet.

That's why Giz did a Winstep of it so early on, that and because he wanted to bring people here to see great art and help support the site and Stardock.

Glad you love it so much! I think you'd have to ask Stardock Design for that (many of us would definitely support that request) so starting a thread was a good idea. You can include the url of the thread when you do write to them. I often wanted to do that for Pixtudio's "Universe Metal" which was a super suite, imo.

I know that the appreciation will make them happy.

Nice thread.

While I prefer Windows 7, I also keep an XP PC because the stock of older blinds is huge compared to what's been upgraded. Dragon is one of my favorites too and keeping both OS's solves that issue for me, albeit at a cost.

In case you're interested it seems to have a Win7 version here:

Good find Dave. Now the question is: Do people want Dragon bad enough to pay for it?

Being a .suite, Theme ManglerManager is needed to be able to load it.(Or attempt to, given TM's lack of functionality.) You could extract the WB but $9.95 is steep for a WB.  A stand-alone WB would be a wonderful thing and much more affordable.

I'd have to agree with you there, Wiz...

Odd, I did a search but didn't see that, just the skin. When I searched 'Dragon' got 116 pages. Then again, I just searched WB's

For all those that have looked at the link that Dave has provided, and are looking to buy the suite hoping to get a full windows 7 version, you will be sadly disappointed. The wb skin in that suite is the same as the free one that is available already it has none of the windows 7 only features and has not been updated since windows 7 came out. The only benefit of getting the suite is for the icon set, again the icon set does not include windows 7 icons such as Homegroup. I will doubt very much that the skin/suite will ever be updated, indeed when i have asked before on IRC if the suite was going to be updated i was told that you buy the skin as it is and the money from the suite went to developing more though as mycolors seems to have been discontinued for a while now i don’t see stardock suddenly changing their minds and updating all the suites to have a separate windows 7 version.

Thanks for your post Anakey. Although I was not interested in buying the suite, very bad to know that. So, it looks like no any chance for a W7 substyle. I understand Stardock is a business company, but I think it should manage in a more professional way about some issues...

Sorry I was just taking the page at face value.  Seemed like a good idea at the time.

True......from the screeny alone, I can see it's merely the Vista version applied to W7. Needs some tweaking and additions for it to be a true W7 skin.
