Tuesday, August 23, 2011 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize News

We have talked about the importance of backing up skin and data frequently, and Acronis True Image is one I can always recommend.  A new version was released today and wanted to share with our WinCustomize members.

New and updated features include:

  • Improved: Acronis® Nonstop Backup™ now compatible with NAS, plus better optimized network load
  • Improved: Enhanced NAS support
  • Improved: Enhanced GUI

Acronis True Image Home 2012 is available for $49.95, and current users can upgrade at a discount.

I actually prefer Macrium Reflect, I have the Pro version but there is also a free version available but the free version does not do incremental backups

Acronis: The Gold Standard. Hands down best and easiest I've ever used.

I'll stick with 2011 for a while.....no problems here at all.

I run 3 different Acronis backups.

Data backup every evening (full on wed. then 6 incrementals)

Full System & data to Local HD every Friday evening (I usually have a months worth on disk)

Full System to external Drive every Sunday night (also keep 4 or 5 previous)

Data....I don't do music, pictures or video in my backups.....I sync them amongst my computers across the LAN instead using Allwaysync....lunchtime daily

I use W7 backup scheduled full backup at 0300 hrs daily to an external drive, I do a a manual full backup every Wednesday to one of my 4 internal hard drives, I keep the last 3 weeks of these deleting all others. I also do a full Backup using Easeus to another internal hard Drive every Friday. I do believe in redundancy when it comes to Backups. This way I have Backups on 3 different drives. The odds all my backup being corrupted are almost nil
