mini previews on taskbar

Saturday, August 20, 2011 by jazzymjr | Discussion: Skinning

Something really weird is happening with my new skin I am making.  For some reason, the close button for the preview is not showing up.  I have tried everything I could to get it to work.  I even transferred the images from my last blind into this one (they work on that blind), but for some reason, the close button doesn't work on this blind.  I have never had a problem with this before.

Any help with this would be appreciated!

MJ, I don't have your answer but it happened to me with a graphic either in the SM or taskbar, also don't remember what graphic. I may not do what others do but I make my SM and everything in there first then my taskbar graphics. What I did was open a new skin and having the graphics already done started building from a new skin and all was fine.

Since you know what graphic it is I would open and start with a new WB and place that graphic in it to see if it works.

Thanks for your feedback, Dave.  I always do my start panel first too, then proceed onto the taskbar.  Maybe I will try to insert my graphics for the preview into one of my completed blinds, and see if it works there.  I'll post back here tomorrow...I'm not at home right now, so I will have to wait till tomorrow morning to try this.

did you try Dave's suggestion? It happens to be the graphic I'm working on next which reminded me your plight.

I tried my close button in my last blind, and it worked fine.  So the only thing I can surmise is that somehow, SKS got borked.  I have this new blind 90% completed...I dread the thought of having to start a new blind all over again...ugh!

Have you skinned the IE7 tabs close button? If so, delete all the code in the code editor tab there and see what happens.

did you try your previous close button in your current blind with the same settings, check the alpha channel, does it show up in the combo box for the graphic, just throwing things out there. I'd like to think non-bork and hope for an oops.

Thank you....thank you!!!!  I hadn't skinned that button, but it did have some code in there, so I deleted it!  And, Viola!  My preview close button works!  You are a life saver!

My pleasure, MJ

I happened to have the same issue on one of my skins in the past and discovered the the IE tab close button code causes a conflict. You never have to skin the close button on the tabs anyway because they use the close button from the tooltip for some damn reason!

Good work Tim. Now time for me to copy/paste and save the info. MJ, glad you are saved.

Thanks, again Tim.  Also, thanks for the tip about the IE tab close button...have noted both of these tips in my skinning binder!
