Hey kitty, an apology is not necessary, I/we understand how it must have been for you in the days leading up to your departure, and finding time to pop in here would not have been something you'd have had on your list of priorities at the time. I remember when Shaunna was in a similar situation [when leaving Tassie to come live with me]... and I remember the phone calls in the days prior to take off when her focus was centred on the trip and being here with me.
So yeah, while it would have been nice to wish you all the best in person, I'm only too aware of all the stuff going on in the days before the flight.... like unpacking and repacking a dozen time to check nothing was forgotten.... triple checking passport and tickets and departure times every day to be sure, to be sure.... ringing the other end EVERY day to be sure they're at the airport so you don't get lost when you land.... running down the chemist to get travel sick pills.... twice, just in case the first ones don't work.... and going to the doctor for some pills to reduce the need to pee every 30 minutes because of nerves during the flight. cos having to walk the aisle to the loo every half hour can get embarrassing on a plane crowded with irritable passengers with not a lot else to look at.

Nah, I wasn't that bad... well not quite, but there is a lot to think about prior to traveling, especially when you're relocating. I've done it more than once now, and hopefully won't have to again. I don't travel too well these days and I'm quite happy here at home anyway
Anyhow, lass, here's to your happiness, to both of you.

And we you... since meeting the real life person behind the bubbly online persona, you've been in our hearts as well. Yup, you could say that you made a lasting impression on us because you're our kind of people.
As for the cooking dinner and the kissing stuff ^... sounds like you've landed yourself an orright catch there... means Pepsi max can be overlooked and deals with the devil are a thing of the past, right?
Reply #69 Tuesday, August 23, 2011 7:54 AM
ah so that means I would have no trouble then?
hehehe
Reply #70 Tuesday, August 23, 2011 8:06 AM
And you wouldn't have known what hit you... what with kitty doing deals with the devil n' all.
Anyhow, if they're letting "every other nutter in"..... looks like if I'm up for the flight I'll be orright, then. ![]()
Played up a bit... er, quite a bit before I left in '69, and wasn't too sure if they'd ever let me back in.
Nah, I'd be fine... still keep a British passport just in case this colonial bunch ever deport me.

The plane has landed but I'll bet Kitty's head is still in the clouds.
(but wait until she gets a taste of your winters.)

Speaking of planes.....
Hehe, I was at Brisbane Airport when a planeload of 'unhappy at home' US immigrants landed....
....... the engines were turned off but the whining never stopped. ![]()
.....................................................................................
Several hours after takeoff a plane still hadn't reached its destination in Brisbane and the worried minders in Canberra set off in search of it. They came across a farmer ploughing his paddock and asked if he had seen a plane with a RAAF insignia on it. He replied in the affirmative and explained that it had crashed in a fiery ball not far from where they were standing. When asked of the condition of the plane he told them that it disintegrated upon impact and that there was nothing much left of it.
"So were there any survivors?", asked the lead minder.
"Nope," relied the farmer: "just finished burying the last one a few minutes ago."
"So, you're saying that Prime Minister Julia Gillard is dead?"
"She protested like all buggery and said that she wasn't... but everybody knows what a lying bitch she is."
That one was for you, kitty... to remind you of home... and 'one' of the reasons you left.
Reply #75 Tuesday, August 23, 2011 11:47 PM

The oil and acrylic on linen portrait simply titled Julia is the work of Victorian artist Kathleen Vafiadis, who has painted Ms Gillard’s portrait on a number of occasions.
Julia was selected as a finalist and exhibited in the 2006 Archibald Prize when Australia's first female Prime Minister was Shadow Health Minister.
Kathy's my sister and yes, I've met Julia.
She's no more a 'liar' in politics than any/all of them....Howard's "there will NEVER be a GST" ...that went well.
She's not a bitch, either, no matter how much the sad, misogynistic male-dominated political system would like to have you believe.
[just being the balanced voice of reason here]....![]()

I know that... I only ever met one honest politician... he was in a plot in a cemetery up Rockhampton way.
The bitch part was already in the joke... just didn't have the heart to change anything when it rolled off the tongue... er, keyboard so smoothly.
Seriously, Gillard is no more a bitch than Avanda Manstones, Bronwyn Bishop or Gina Reinhart... they're all self-made women and all deserve all the criticism and/or compliments they get. They're all public figures who have done their bit to fix or fuck things... and therefore are fair game.
Do I like Gillard? No! But then I don't like the others, either. Each has a despicable personality trait [just being a politician is enough for 3 of them] and none of them would blink an eye if any of us ordinary folk went guts up as a result of their behaviour/policies/practices.
And don't get me started on that bastard, lil Johnny. He's more despicable than that lot put together... just to show I'm not [entirely] misogynist.

Ah politics, so much fun
Anyway, to bring things back on topic, I just wanted to extend my most sincere congratulations to you, Vampothika and neone6. I hope one day to move to America so I can be with my beautiful Darcie on a permanent basis, instead of this seeing each other in the flesh when funds permit crap. Unfortunately there's a little something called DOMA (Defence Of Marriage Act) standing in our way. But things change everyday, and the day will come. Either that or we'll just say sod it and have her move over here to England.
Best wishes to you both, and may a truer love never be seen (apart from mine and Darcie's, of course, lol).

That discriminatory shit needs to die. If they really want to defend marriage, they need to outlaw divorce.

Quoting Starcandy, reply 77Unfortunately there's a little something called DOMA (Defence Of Marriage Act) standing in our way.

Agreed. On both points.

I wouldn't hasten to do that, Bebi. People can get to a point where it's better they be apart permanently. Marriage should not be enforced with jail. That makes no sense whatsoever. If people are free to wed, they should be free to dissolve that union unless they take vows not to dissolve it,
Having two folks who have come to hate each other being forced to stay together or married sounds like the law makers would be providing a motive for murder.
