I think the question should be: good or poor quality (you should have one and not the other), then the design istelf is down to the individual - and all tastes are catered for!

The hardest things is that there are some great older skins which people want on Win7, but aren't likely to get updated. The people that made them aren't around to do the upgrade - maybe some of the more active new skinners should seek approval from the original artist and upgrade them?

There's only a couple people on here that I have a problem with, and you aren't one of them. 

I have updated several of the "classics" for my own personal use and actually did seek permission to upload one of them years ago. The original artist was kind enough in his refusal, but it has deterred me from repeating the process only to be shot down.

Honesty is a good thing. I won't go there simply because there is no need, that's all. I have nothing against you dude. Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

I remember when I first got my WindowBlinds. Essorant's skin pack came with it and boy did I have fun. That was back when it was version 3 I think. I spent a whole day just changing from one to another. That was the first I crashed my machine. Man...would I love to see some of the Oldie but Goodies make a comeback. Awesome!

Personally I like the more minimalist, clean, ultra-usable skins. They don't have to be boring to be usable. vstyler's stuff is very usable and certainly anything but boring. Same with essorant. I'll pass on the big and gaudy "look at me!" showstoppers. Like ID said, they're more novelty than anything.

Yeah but they're also fun to play with. I like the detail in some of them. The more there is of it the better I like it.

I would really go for more permissions. Minority of the original skinners will refuse, I bet. Don't let 1 refuse get You down.

Anyone consider that maybe THEY don't WANT their classics updated, upgraded, redone or whatever? I mean, they're not capable of updating their blinds if THEY so chose? I seriously doubt that! Seems sometimes what the community or fanboys (bet y'all haven't heard that term in a while...) want and what the skinners want to do with their work doesn't always coincide... 

I, for one, would love to see 'Retro' updated....another great skin! But I also understand about time ...or lack thereof.

Over the years there have been some who haven't wanted them 'redone', but also others who were OK with it.

All ANYONE has to do is ask.

I'd love to see some of 'em updated myself...hell, I'd love to update 'em!, only thing is if the original style, feel, magic, whatever is preserved as the blind's original creator intended it. I've seen remakes of greatness go to some mutant, awful, piece of crap that had no resemblance whatsoever with the original work. Just turn on the TV or go watch a "new" movie as good examples....
