Molton skin troubles
Program list disappears
Friday, July 1, 2011 by joelore | Discussion: Skinning
Hi,
Is anyone familiar with the WindowBlinds skin called Molten. It used to be one of the included skins in WindowBlinds but now it is only available at the link above. Are you or were you having trouble with it? For some reason when I click all Programs and move my cursor up to click on a shortcut the whole start menu goes blank. Have you found or created a fix? Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have the latest drivers from the manufacturer and never had trouble with them. All are installed properly with no errors in DXdiag. Dunno what uxtheme.dll is so I doubt I have it installed. Tuneup Utilities, which I recently installed has a service called Theme Enhancer but I turned that off and set it to manual and it's not running. Maybe there is something to that that is loading. I will try uninstalling it and see if that helps. Otherwise you are most likely right and it's a skin problem. That's why I was hoping someone else was using it and maybe had a fixed version.

Uxtheme.dll is a patch that some people use to hack their systems in order to apply visual styles that aren't made the same way as windowblinds, which does not hack your system files.
Molten is an XP skin and does similar things for me on Win 7 64 bit.

Ok, so no one else has been able to find the fixed version or fixed it themselves? I've seen the fixed version in various suites on Wincustomize but no one will tell me how to get it.

I am sorry, I don't know what you mean by "fixed" version. To my knowledge, there is only one version. For XP.
Dragon may be for Vista too, dunno. But I'm certain Molten is XP only.

Molten is a "Stardock Designs" skin ( https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds/6568/ ), not a suite.
"The Molten skin with animated start menu, animated title bar and a hot design has support for XP and Vista.
Designed by Stardock Design Molten helps demonstrate the how WindowBlinds can transform your user experience. With its animations and complete skinning support of both XP and Vista Molten flows onto your desktop."
The trouble stems from your using Windows 7 and the skin being supported for XP and Vista.

Probably a problem with it and Win7. Hasn't been updated in a long time. Alternative explanation might be your drivers or WB installation or maybe interfering software, like uxtheme.dll if you have it.
If no other skin is affected, then it's a Molten skin specific problem.
