a 50% farewell, am splitting my time elsewhere

Saturday, June 4, 2011 by Vampothika | Discussion: Community

Just a note to all my friends here that i will be now devoting more time to daz studio and creating characters and selling them (on daz)

i will still be here and creating stuff, but only for about 50% of my time now. the rest is devoted to the circus of the insane and daz.

no hard feelings, still love being a master, but i need to try to start making a decent income from my art. I need to live, not just survive.

and to be frank, id rather be involved with a site where the site actually works and they are devoted to removing bugs from all their programs

that artists need and depend on.

xx

The good thing is: You'll still be here.

But 2 questions:

1. what is circus of the insane?

2. what is daz?

Good luck with everything you have in mind.

I wish you the very best Vamps if someone earns to make cash for its art it is you, I have never seen someone that creative and ambitious as you over the past years here on wincustomize .
And i think your a jewel that will be clearly missing (in the circle of Masters) uhm and of course in the Forum and the release section here on Wincustomize, but as you will still be here and there and do your thing and be happy with it thats what counts and as long as your successfull in doing it - no doubt that you will be, the community will be happy.
As a ZBrusher i wish you only the best on your path.

Congrats on the new job, Kitty! Damn, I'm kinda envious...I wish I could actually make a living through art but guess it'll be the ole day to day grind for me 'til I croak. I do have a great hobby 'tho! Good luck...seriously!

Okay. Either I missed something or no one else is gonna bring it up.

Why aren't you selling your skins here??????

I noticed a few folks went 'free' with their Master skins. I suppose it's a matter of choice and I haven't questioned it until now. Choosing not to sell the skins is one thing, but then when you post you don't have the funds to renew your script for OD and then this, I am confused. I would think even skins that may not sell that well would cover the cost of a script for OD. I'm not being sarcastic, I just don't get it.

Site seems to be working well for me recently, and i know for a fact that Neil Banfield works tirelessly and constantly at improving WB, SKS, among others.

Having said that, good luck with whatever you find yourself doing in the future, creativity knows no bounds when accompanied by large amounts of caffeine.

Good for you, Kitty!  I'll miss you, but you know you're in my heart every day whether you're posting or skinning or not -- we're just skinning sisters and that's forever.

The fonts for the toolbar buttons in SkinStudio have been messed up for quite a while; if you remove all the UIS2 title bar buttons and put in new images the close button doesn't close unless you save the action as something other than close first and THEN go back and save it as close.  I appreciate Neil and all he does, but these things have been posted before and nothing has been done to correct them.

Hmm.. haven't had any of those issues personally. Fonts seem to work fine here, and never had an issue with the UIS2 buttons.

U might try using SKS 5, I still build all my skins initially in it, then go to the later version for Vista and 7.

Best wishes to you and your endeavors! I have followed your work here over the years and have always been able to spot your enjoyment in creation. May that enjoyment always be with you. Talent is a gift, enjoyment is priceless..

yeah... but not a great amount of creative satisfaction is gained in working at putting the time and effort into a blind when there's a whole lot not getting to enjoy it... many want free and just won't buy masterskins.... so... depends where your priorities and practicalities lie...

I understand , but pleeeeeease make sure you're presence remains here at least 50% of the time!!-    I learned in Girl Scouts years ago this:   "Make New Friends, but keep the old-- one is silver but the other is Gold"

I hope that when you get to it- you can still make that Gemstone Windowblinds-     I'll be the first to download and install it--wether on my little XP machine, or my father's Mega Windows 7 PC!--

Hugs!

The disabled font and the pushed font in the toolbar buttons are transposed.  The work around, of course, is to just skin them knowing this; however that doesn't negate the fact that SKS7 is messed up in that regard and it's not being addressed by Stardock and/or Neil.  As you, yourself know, being a skinner sometimes means being annoyed by the little things.  If it's not perfect, it's going to annoy.

????

I recall one skinner HAD to stop selling skins or risk getting cut off from their main income...and...correct me if I am wrong because I cannot find the thread or it has been deleted...but Vamp stopped selling and said 'she didn't need the money'?  So this is why I am confused.

I haven't posted anything as a Master skin yet and I admit my ignorance in the whole matter as far as what anyone is generating in revenue...but still...20 or so skins sold would pay for a subscription, right?

I guess I feel like something is missing in all of this and I have a hard time when things don't make sense...and this doesn't make a lot of sense. I'm fine with Vamp getting busy on another site and all....everyone has the right to advance themselves and all that..no argument there...I just don't understand what the issues are with THIS site.
