He might be a nice guy and most likely is, I do not personally know him. My statements still stand. There were many more screen shots in May that were far better, I just selected one as an example. I could have easily picked at least 10 different screen shot from the May selection that were better. I do not feel ashamed, I did not insult the individual. I only commented on the screen shot that was selected. If I took a shot at anyone it was at the person or persons that selected this as the May screenshot of the month

OldMsgt...the contest involves the screenshots from the May 2011 Desktop Screenshots thread. The screenshot you link was not posted in the thread.

While you may not agree with the winner that was chosen, the judges make the decision and I have to agree it's one of the nicer shots in the thread.

I noticed you posted a few in the thread so if you continue to post them in the monthly thread, and ID continues to have the contest, perhaps yours may be chosen in one of the coming months.

If so, I hope no one rains on your parade and bitches about the winner.

I only post to show what can be done with a little snipping of various skins take a little from one and place it  another. Take a wall recolor it, take a PNG from one skin and use it in another skin

I usually on the screen shots just post the screen shot without links. No links no consideration. I did not post a May screen shot to become a winner. I will continue to post my screen shots but in the future I will ensure that I include no links to the items that are shown in the shot. I will also comment on what I think is exceptional. I did not comment on the work of the person who won. I only posted on what I thought was better, and I still think there are at least 10 screen shots that were better and far more artistic in the May screen shots. If that offends someone that is their problem not mine.

I minimize whatever windows I have open ....1st of the month ...and press 'printscreen'.

Desktop Screenshots is about what YOU ARE USING, not about how clever you are at photoshopping a dozen screencaps together.

The whole screenshot gallery is intended [for skinners] to showcase their works in progress as well as everyone else a chance to show all whose works they are using.

If people are manipulating images to create a false impression then they've lost the plot.

Yes, I'm old too ....but I'd never use that wall....way too much white....

Again we all have opinions they are like arm pits we all have 2, Yes I manipulate a wall I may recolor it, I may ad an object to the wall. I have changed the look of my Winstep by creating different PNG files to get a different look and feel to the quick launch button and task buttons and OMG the start button and start bar. I manipulate and change the colors in a Skin using SKS and WB. I may even change the font color or the font using SKS. I personalize the desktop to my preferences in colors. I am sure every one here does that, it is why Stardock is a success it is so users can change their desktops to something unique and that is functional for them. I am sure many would find my desktop as something they would not like, that does not bother me for I am confident some would also like it. Individualism is really what makes us all different and we should rejoice in the fact we are all unique and different.

Following your own advice would have made a big difference in this post.

I enjoy looking at each month screenshots and like to do it every 3 or 4 days. That way I get to see several new ones at a time.

Each momnth the new thread get many post and comments so it has proven people like it. Not everyone will think the skin picked is the one they like best but this skin is clean, easy to work with and the background goes very well with it. sometimes it's nice to just have a brighter desktop. It really doesn't matter if it was this months skin picked or another as people will always have their favorite. So if you have a favorite use it. Damn, just enjoy the different shots posted each day and enjoy them. That's the main reason this thread is here not to bitch about who should have been picked and I don't like this one, this should have been picked. If you don't like what was picked than just leave the post and wait for the next month. wish some of you people would go the hell up and enjoy what you have here. People do this for their enjpyment and really don't need to be told it looks like shit. Don't like something that is fine and I respect that 100% but no need to chop people apart. So again I say enjoy what you have and what is available. I don't like everything posted but I know the person who picked something or posted something did their best. So again have fun and time for a mental adjustment for a few as it's the goal for some to just bitch at everything.

Well I guess I will only post problems on the forums, as one seems to get denigrated for posting and possibly offending a member of the Stardocks mutual admiration society. I will use only the star rating system from now on and no longer make comments on walls or WB or any other item that I think is terrible or not to my taste. I will give and comment on items I like to join the majority in the Stardock mutual admiration society.

OldMsgt, This wasn't meant for you as you are Ok in my book, it's just a general thought of what I see going on for the last 6 months or more. You also post some good things. I have no problem with posting a view of anything except sometimes I and again I think things could be stated in a better manner. It's more about people only posting negitave things almost all the time. What is done is done and over, finished. It really comes to how things are said and showing respect. Some of the things you post I laugh my ass off so no reason to not post. No reason to just kiss ass either, we all need to think about what we are posting at certain times and how we say it. There was a statement on kitty leaving thread I'm shocked the person didn't get choped up but it was overlooked and maybe it wasn't meant as it was stated. Maybe it was me that was wrong in thinking it should have never been written and it's me that is all screwed up. I have been know to screw up plenty over the last 66 years believe me. It's all good.

Sorry, I am going to stick to my guns, I will not post negative comments on any skin I will only star rate them. If the designer cannot accept negative comments they cannot improve their work. I guess it is only human nature to surround yourself with "YES"  men and women. This isn't about yes men or kissing ass or some "admiration society" and this is certainly not the military or politics or some company.

You know what you obviously have me confused with someone that gives a crap about you opinion. he has his moment in the sun, I was commenting on the choice and the group that made that choice. I still think there were far better May Screen shots to choose from. It does not reflect on the person who won. I disagree with the choice it does not mean I think the winner was not qualified to win, it just means I think there was better out there.

this is all kinda pretty inappropriate.... the umpire's decision is final.... like it or not... congratulate the winner.... move on... and if your opinion differs... that's life... start your own competition and judge your own winner...
