In my thoughts as well. We have a 14 year old Black Lab named Ray who's starting to head downhill. So I know what you're going through.

My fingers are crossed, Harley. If you don't mind, could you tell me what seems to be the problem with him?

Oh, the poor thing! He will certainly be in my thoughts every day. Is he staying at the vets on IV therapy, or are you treating him at home? (That's always such an agonizing decision -- spend outlandish amounts of cash on a 50/50 chance at survival, or treat conservatively and hope for the best). I assume you know you have to treat the yard with bleach, kill the virus in the ground, right?

The pup's in my thoughts and prayers, Harley. My pets ARE a member of my family so I can relate to your family's grief over it, my friend...

Now that's a beautiful fella, Harley.
Crossing my fingers... hoping he comes back better than new. Dogs are such wonderful, selfless heroes waiting to happen...
And all dogs deserve loving families... so Charley - Get better soon. The Myers are waiting for their friend...

So very sorry Harley. If I lost my dog I don't know what I would do as she is all I have. Will ask my wife if she can help your dog to get better.

Both are great looking kids Harley...and I will say a prayer for them. I know it hurts losing a buddy like that...I was living in Florida when mine passed and I spent $2000 to fly back home after having her cremated...placed in an urn...then bought her a casket and a headstone with her picture etched into it and she no resides at Kimberly Pet Memorial. I miss her every day.

Aw man, Parvo sucks. I'm praying Harley...I once lost one to Parvo.

Beautiful animals. Sorry to hear about the Parvo. I hope you can cure him.
He has two things to his advantage, his age and size.
I have Boykins and occasionally breed them. Due to their small build, Parvo is one of the first shots I make sure a litter gets.
Good luck and I hope Charley makes it through this ok.

Charley's very handsome. If you're treating him at home- pedialite! I cannot emphasize that enough. Dehydration is the main killer with parvo. The virus isn't deadly, it's the secondary infections and the dehydration. Antibiotics, stomache meds (for nausea and diarrhea), and lots of pedialite. And pay attention to the recovery- Charley may perk up for a day or two, and then relapse. If you can keep him hydrated, you can keep him alive!!!!! Also, make sure you use a 3% bleach solution on your shoes, and even spray your hands before washing them with soap. Normal household soaps will NOT kill parvo- not even Lysol.......

you, your family, and especially Charley will be in my prayers. I have two elderly dogs and i'm dreading the day when one or the other passes. pets are as much a part of the family as a person is. btw, he's a handsome guy.
