I am not able to download/install many of the skins, etc. on this and other web sites! HELP!

I am not able to install many of the files I
download from this site and others like it.
When they are downloaded, they appear on my
desktop and I am unable to load them in to my
manager. I would appreciate any help at all.

You don't say which kind of files you are downloading. More information is required before first aid can be administered. Also, I don't know if downloading to your desktop is a good idea, I personally have a special folder called "Downloads", and I download everything to that. But I doubt that it's that which is causing your problem.

What manager are you trying to load them with? Each of the themes/skins on the site uses different programs (thus the different areas), you will want to follow the links from each section to actually download and install that particular program.
