Rainbow Clouds
Despite everything happening, there's still beauty

There are a lot of terrible things happening all over. It's hard to find hope or a silver lining...
But there's still hope, and there's still beauty. I saw this on Gizmodo yesterday and figured someone would post it...so since no one else has, I will.
These are rainbow clouds. Light is refracted by ice crystals at high altitude, much the same way a 'regular' rainbow is created. In this case, the cloud was above and behind Mt. Everest.
Hope you enjoy this phenomenon which I never knew existed. "World Class" skinning.

I don't know, Doc -- it kinda look like the grim reaper to me. Then again, I guess that's the way the congregation of the Westboro Baptist Church would expect the grim reaper to look.

Mother Nature skinning clouds. Everybody wants to get in the act. It is very beautiful though.

To me it looks more like a goddess reposing over the mountain... like she is watching over it.
Yeah, it's pretty amazing what people see in clouds, and how different their perceptions can be at times.
The thing is, these rainbow clouds are a natural beauty and magnificent.

Absolutely right on Philly. And I thought a double rainbow was awesome. I've seen those. Which reminds me. Before I moved to Pa I use to drive a taxi in Brooklyn. One afternoon after a rain shower there appeared a rainbow. Solid. Not broken or diffused like some are. So vibrant was this rainbow that traffic actually came to a complete standstill on Flatbush ave. A very busy main thoroughfare. People got out of their cars to gaze up at this extraordinary sight. It was so unreal. I have yet to see another like it.

So do I. Unfortunately I didn't have a camera at the time. To give you an idea of how memorable it was it happened back in 92.
