What do you think of Internet Explorer 9?

The final version of IE9 was released by Microsoft last night and I installed it on my Windows 7 machine. Only played with it for about 30 minutes so did not have time to explore some of the new stuff but one thing that really impressed me was the speed of the page loading. Wow! Fast or what.........Never been a fan of FF but Chrome has potential.........but now IE9 really sets the pace, speedwise.
Anybody else tried it yet?

It's singled out by hackers because people use it. Most of the compromises on IE are outdated plugins. People still use Java versions from 2005 and think they're secure, whee! Same with Flash.
If MS actually had plugin updating capabilities in IE, they'd have a far more secure browser than anyone else.

Got the notice via Windows update. Hid the update immediately. Still using firefox 3.6.
I don't fear change, it's just that this change is unnecessary.

I can't stand IE9 because you can't disable ClearType. Text is pretty much unreadable on my screen. Shame that Impulse uses it to render everything.

Then explain why so many security updates were issued because IE had holes in it up the whazoo and Fire Fox did not. I have always used FF and not one bug has ever crossed my screen. Not one! Can IE users make the same claim. I think not.

I like the ad blocker in IE9. the security is better too, I've been using it more than FF now, it seems pretty fast and secure!

I finally got IE9 installed. But I also reinstalled my OS (Vista 64-bit) on my fancy new Solid State Drive (SSD). It actually installed unlike when I tried the 32-bit one on my HDD. It's clean, minimal, not my style. But it's loads webpages FAST. (Could be the SSD's speed.) I can't figure out how to add your own sites to the "Your Most Popular Sites" when adding a new tab. It only lists the sites you've recently visited. I wanna PIN my favorites permanently.
And there's not as many options available, let alone dual-pane browsing, like Maxthon 2.5.15 (my browser) has. Lame.
I would still use IE7 if I had to. This release was definately NOT worth the wait. Sticking to Maxthon now, however old it may be.

I never said that I was using the newest version. That's the version (2.5.15) i'm currently using. I still like custom themes (which IIRC, 3.0 doesn't have yet),
I'm still experimenting with the new browsers. IE9 sucks, and Opera 11 i may keep. I have yet to try the others.

And another thing about IE9, the download manager doesn't list the transfer rate. Just an estimated time. I always like to know my download speed, ALWAYS! Epic fail MS.

I'm still experimenting with the new browsers. IE9 sucks, and Opera 11 i may keep. I have yet to try the others.
Ah .. was wondering why you were using 2.5. I do like using Opera but the three banking sites I go to don't like it at all. Now that Firefox (and Pale Moon) are running so well and I was not using Opera on my computers. Uninstalled it yesterday *sigh*

Been using IE9 for a few weeks now and I put Chrome and Firefox up against it to see how all three would perform against each other over a short period of time..........My main 'want' was speed closely followed by 'usability'..............Firefox did not stay for too long and went in the bin. It was just no match in the 'speed department' to the other two. When I have a bit of spare time I'll try Pale Moon. So, IE9 and Chrome were 'face to face'...............after a short time it was quite apparent that one browser was much quicker than the other and to my surprise Chrome won hands down. I've been a long time user of IE but I have to admit that Chrome has come a long way and will be the 'beast of choice' from now until the next big changes. But, as they say, 'each to their own'..........everyone has their opinion but it still surprises me how many people rave about Firefox......but I guess that is because of its looks, add-ons and customability.........it certainly can't be for its page loading.

I think that IE being singled out by hackers and whatnot as opposed to other browsers plus the fact that it does not perform as advertised speaks for itself. Damn little sure does act big.
