Being Patient
Sunday, February 20, 2011 by BigDogBigFeet | Discussion: Personal Computing
Well I'm still waiting to solve my computer problem. I don't have one yet (a computer) .
I called TigerDirect last week and placed an order for one. They got a pre-auth approved on my account but no matter what I did they would not agree that I was who I said I was and honor my order. I spent numerous phone calls and emails attempting to address their "concerns" but it was hopeless. They were content to take my money (I won't say how much) but not "approve my order. So, I cancelled my "order" which they refused to approve and demanded my money back. I'm still waiting for it.
So, this week if they don't come to their senses I will be in contact with my state's Consumer Protection Agency and check into the free legal assistance available to me at work. I did somehow manage to successfully purchase some memory sticks, power supply and graphics card from them in 2007 but this time no luck. My memory of the transaction then was they also were difficult to work with. My advice is avoid TigerDirect, their "Order Approval Department" is extremely unreasonable.
On a postive note, I've completed my first full week of work for my new employer, have moved into my new location and have made contact with a local reputable system builder here close to home. I plan on visiting them tomorrow.
Later all and soon I will be computing again.

They bought them out when they filed for bankruptcy. Bummer...I loved Circuit City. I guess it...shorted ![]()
I have had glitches with NewEgg but they usually are much better at fixing them. Tiger is great--as long as nothing goes wrong.
FYI--I went to check my own credit after following my advice here and found an incorrect "$155 delinquency" on it--yikes! So it's contested now and should be fixed. Ya'll should keep an eye on that stuff.

That's sort of similar to the build I'd like to do next... tho I might be looking at a Thermaltake case, about a 1000 watt PSU and a Nvidia GTX560 GPU instead. Well almost... the CPU, RAM and drive will roughly be the same.

Well today is the day. I saw my machine, wow its really nice. The video card has copper pipe coolers! It has a clear side window and the tech who built it did a great job with the cables. He also saved all the extra parts that came with my machine. The MB even has x-fire so if needed I can expand this machine nicely.
Thanks everyone and thx yrag for suggesting I try a local shop, I couldn't be happier!

I will eventually. My pc lasted about 4 hours and then HD failure, lol. I installed a couple of games downloaded Impulse and installed Tweak7, Fences Pro and Dreams, went to install another game and freeze. Rebooted and the bios could no lo0nger find the HD. Yuck!!![]()
Apparently I named this thread just right.
The store was helpful they picked it up and are now finishing installing it. Reboot and retry shortly.
I currently don't have anything to take pictures with and upload but I'll work on that.
Laters everyone.

Speaking of Tiger Direct..has anyone else noticed that Circuit City and Tiger Direct websites are the same...even the reviews are identical?
Here's an example.
