vMusic
my real passion

K, so, when I'm not skinning, almost 100% of my time goes to writing songs, music, singing, doing cover songs and originals.
One of these days, my bro-in-law and me intend to release a CD.. well that's the plan anyway...
Here is our first..basically finished, but not professionally mastered track. I sing lead, some harmony, some keyboard, virtual instruments and produce \ mix.
Fred, plays guitar, sings harmony, and typically comes up with the original chord progressions.
The song in the link is called Anne, after a very special person in my life. http://soundcloud.com/vstyler/anne_original-song_first_song_on_our_cd_finished
Feel free to leave comments.
You can also check some of our other originals, or some cover songs I have done by clicking on vStyler link if you like.
Here is a photo also of our fat asses in our studio ![]()

Cheers Syd, glad you like.. think I'll work on it a while this afternoon before I start Sakura Vista.

I like both tracks, but for me they need a little more work. Can't put my finger on it exactly, cos the music is good and the lyrics are good, but then you did say that you're working on them.
Perhaps it's in the vocals... maybe a bit of polish with the talky parts.... I dunno. The main vocal is tops, no worries there... it's just the other. maybe a bit smoother/richer and a little more melodic perhaps.
As you can see, I'm no [can't put my finger on it] expert and a little vague... orright, a lot, and maybe it's just me, but any event, you have the basis for two great songs there and I'm sure you will iron out whatever it is... if it's there at all.
Seriously, you have there the makings for a couple of great songs. ![]()

Thanks 'The Starkers' ![]()
yeah, Fred does the talky parts, I know what ur saying about it needing polished a bit.. sometimes he's a bit hard headed, and doesn't take me bitching at him well.. eloquently as I may try to put critiques forward to him.
Anyway..yeah.. just the beginnings, and as with any WIP, most likely to improve along the way with some help from others ears.
Cheers

Well you could always blame me... show him my post to prove it.
Seriously, it's not that his vocal is bad, more that it needs depth and smother edges, if you know what I mean. Right now his vocal sort of has rough edges, and while that may go brilliantly in a good old hard rock classic, these songs require something a little more mellow... like how a 12 y/o scotch goes down as compared to 3 y/o one. Yeah, tell Fred he needs to be thinking ballad rather than sea shanty... take the gruffness off and let the words melt into his mouth so they sound smoother, if that makes sense. Yup, having listened again, I think that's what is needed.
*Edit* Having thought a moment more, maybe those edges could be smoothed with your mixing equipment... just a thought if Fred has a naturally gruff voice and his tongue feels like sandpaper when laying down the tracks.

Thanks Starkers... ![]()
I Knocked this out last couple of nights in between skinning XP and Vista... Its a cover song ... originally by Nelly Furtado and Timbaland.
The drums were particularly tricky on this..

Good stuff! It's not exactly my style per se, but it's definitely good, and you certainly know what you're doing with your music.Keep it up ![]()
I may have to pick your brains sometime about your setup, if you don't mind. My brother is looking to record some of his own stuff, seeing as the band he's been in for the last ten years or so doesn't seem to be interested in doing their own stuff anymore, and would rather look at being a covers band.

Again, I like it... nice.... smooth and mellow. The vocal track could do to be an octave or two louder, but other than that, very nice.

Quoting Starcandy, reply 88I may have to pick your brains sometime
The last person that tried to pick my brain was never heard from again.... last name... Hoffa
but sure.. if you like, im sure I could help in some capacity.
So he's not buried in the end zone of that football field after all. The 'v' in your username doesn't stand for Vinnie, does it?

Well I'll be... last time I won something was an argument with myself.
Thanks, bud.
Oh, and the argument was about whether or not I would indulge in another piece of mrs s' homemade cheese cake.... was yummy beautiful, too.

Yeah, nice guitar work and vocals on this one... something nice and mellow for when I'm in an easy listening mood and want to get away from the more up-tempo rock kind of thing.
This one, What You Got, is worth finishing. ![]()
