Fences Chosen Again!

“Fences” has been chosen by MakeUseOf.com as one of the Best Of: Windows Software in the Productivity Category!
Congrats, Jeff!

Is a program that helps you organize your desktop and can hide your icons when they are not in use.

your desktop by creating shaded areas which become movable and sizable containers for your icons. Double click blank spaces on your desktop and all your fences will fade out, and back.

"It wasn't five minutes after installing Fences that I realized I'd be using it for the rest of my computing life. It's that good." - PC World
You can get Fences free edition, but I’d recommend from my own use Fences Pro.

Someone sell me on fences, everyone says they are great but I don't see how it would fit into my workflow. I am a 3d modeler and traditional 2d illustrator. I use zbrush, ps, painter, etc. Could fences really help me on my projects or is it more of a visual pleasure than an organizational tool?

Organizational tool that yields visual pleasure from lack of cluttered desktop filled with all sorts of icons...

How is the pro fences better than the free fences though?

I'm seriously considering Object Desktop as my next purchase from Stardock.
It has Fences Pro* as well as other really wonderful things.

The link I provided should have a comparison of features.
Just click on the "Compare and get it here" in the last line of the post....or here. ![]()

I would buy fences pro in a heart beat, except for a single issue, and an important one for me, and many other I know.
Fences fails miserably in Virtual Desktop Management environments.
I am a faithful user and supporter of Dexpot GBR / VDM.
I have experimented a lot with attempting to find a way to have Fences work in a VD environment.
I have also attempted to get Fences to work with a number of other VDM's such as Virtuawin.
Fences fails in these conditions.
Whom do I have to bug in order to have the designer/programmer of Fences collaborate with the Designers/programmers of Dexpot???
This collaboration would be nothing less than a boon to all users
Regards
The Sarge

I will never go back to a regular desktop. How on earth did I work on projects without fences.
