WinCustomize is one great place

I just got off the phone with one of the master skinners from this site.
I needed some pixels pushed (because I'm a no-talent hack) and sent a private message a few days ago asking for some help. I got 25 images sent back the next day that were over and above anything I could have asked for.
Unfortunately, because I described what i wanted poorly . .they were not useful. I PM'd again apologizing and describing better what I was hoping for.
Not an hour later I get a PM with a phone number. We spent two minutes talking about the image and anther ten jsut talking.
Now . . I've been on teh internet since there were only BBS. I was a Compuserve member and then a AOL and then . . well . . I've been around a while. In all those years though, in all the sites I've visited, only one has reached across the cyber-space into meat-space; this community.
I've made real friends here that I've become closer with over the past ten years than I have with my neighbors. I've even had skinners over to the house and gone out to dinner with.
Crazy? Yes.
Cool? Also yes.

It's kinda 'fun' to discover skinners are 'real'.... meeting them ... comparing notes.
Aside from the crew at SD I have met just 3 'in the flesh' and 3 more via 'real' phones..... not a lot considering the 14 years or so that I've been 'at it' ...![]()

Names from a distant past....![]()

For me, it's been a shock each time I've spoken to a "virtual" friend to hear their voice and have it be so different to what I heard in my head.
The skinner I spoke to this morning had such a Southern drawl. Not what I was expecting at all.

Wonderfuller for me would be no accident. Its a lot like more betterer which is what this site really is. We pull together for our own like family. It just doesn't get any betterer than that.

Kudos to Zubaz. No one can miss-spell with such consistency without doing it deliberately. Hats off to the man with pants named after him.

Everytime I talk to Jim I fell like a plate of southern fried chicked is on the way, but he never sends it.
WC has always been a great place for help, knowledge, and many other things since I have been here and much before my time I'm sure.

I like the way Aussies sound..it's like they're always in a , "What the hell, it's all good" mood. I have taken Yanks as smart alecks but that was usually in the middle of writing 'em a ticket not so long ago. (we like taking that yankee money down here...'sho nuff) Ain't nobody, nowhere got better sayings than folks in the south tho'...here's some good examples> http://socyberty.com/languages/top-75-southern-sayings-and-southern-dictionary/ I use some of 'em proudly daily... ![]()
