Newbie here

I have prog's such as 3D Studio Max, Multimedia Builder, All of Microsoft's software development kit with direct x Visual C++, etc. Is there any one in here that can help me with the info on how to change the spash screen for windows start up. I made a pic and named it LOGO.SYS and put it in C:/windows and took the old one out but it still is not working any ideas? I would also like to make my own desktop but not sure how have ideas but not sure how to do it so can any one help a newbie.

http://www.shellcity.net/ had an article about how to do it a while back, but I don't have any more info than that...

Logo.sys has some specific requirements, it should be a 8-bit 320x480 bitmap in your root directory (or in other words C:\, not C:\windows). Anyway, for more info, read this: http://www.virtualplastic.org/html/logo_scr.html

That would require a combination of a shell replacement/enhancement (like NextStart, HoverDesk or LiteStep) and a windowskinner (primarily WindowBlinds). Too lazy to look up the links, look around this site, you'll find them.

lol sorry it takes me so long to answer but my cable modem speed fell to about 1.03 kb connection speed must be that worm

Custom Startbar: Objectbar https://www.stardock.com/products/objectbar/ or Hoverdesk http://www.hoverdesk.net
Tool bars: ?? Dunno what you meen by that, but I'm assuming it's like your own customised app launcher bars and stuff, then the answer is the same as the above.
Pop up Windows: ?? Again I'm not sure what you mean, but if what you call popups are the customised popup menus when you click on the desktop, then it's either LiteStep http://www.litestep.com or NextStart http://www.winstep.net
If I may add, you may aslo want to look at DesktopX https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/ to customize your actual desktop, with animated object and stuff, it can be very neat, and also Windowblinds https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/ to change the apearance of all of Windows windows.
