LAME

So I'm a paid owner of the somewhat buggy stardock object desktop and deskscapes. But it is a nifty program, when its working. So now I stop in the web site here to see if there are any decent new deskscapes to download, after probably six months since my last visit.
And low and behold I encounter your new grift...
I can't download any deskscapes to go with this software I paid for... you're giving me some lame bandwidth exceeded message. And want me to pay you more money and subscribe to your web page. Well... absofreakinlutely NOT. Totally LAME. I paid for this shady software and got the impulse surpise drivel along with it. And it was supposed to be a lifetime license.
Nice S C A M.
I will certainly not ever be buying another piece of software from your outfit. And shall surely make certain no one else I know does either. Very bad biz practice.

Dreams are large files, the download limit of a non subscriber is met quickly when downloading dreams. You should subscribe.

People would like to help you, so it would be advisable not to attack Stardock on this site. That's one quick way to get shown the door.
To correct a misimpression: You have a license to use the software and get updates for one year. You DO NOT have a subscription to this website. That is a separate subscription.
I believe you have a limit of 20Mb of download. I could be wrong.
Daiwa is correct. You probably got the message by error. Contact [email protected] to address the problem. Or not. Your choice. I would suggest altering your approach, and gaining control over your emotions before they prove to be your undoing here.

It IS a 'lifetime licence'. That is for the product....the application itself.
The skins/graphics themselves belong to other people and their distribution has its own costs.
This is no different from the purchase of a Record player NOT coming with a lifetime of included FREE records.
You are not even being asked to PURCHASE each and every single record, but merely a SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE during which time you can freely obtain as many [or as few] records as you wish.
How is that a 'scam'?

You are not showing as a current customer, that is why the site is telling you this.
Log-off WinCustomize, completely clear your browsers cache and cookies, and login again.

As long as your profile shows you as a current customer, you were allowed unlimited access to download from WinCustomize.
This is addressed in this post.
gmg12345678 profile shows him to be a "Current Customer" so he should have access.

Edit: that's odd, ID's post says he's not a current customer.

CG... "Current Customer" in his case probably refers to the software, not WC sub.
Reply #10 Tuesday, December 21, 2010 9:45 AM
If someone is a current customer, as if someone has a current ODNT sub, then they do get unlimited downloads from WC as long as it is active.
If clearing the cache from WC doesn't work, I would suggesting sending an e-mail to [email protected].

I don't presume to be a mod or anything, but it seems to me you guys may be confusing the issue.
Here is what I see.
I'm a subscriber.

He is not.
He even said as much in the OP.

Now, if I'm confused please straighten me out...lol.

Jim I do believe as a SD customer with a current subscription, you are entitled to Access WC for skins, tho you will see ad's and not be able to download the premium Subscriber content. If that is the case it would most likely be a cookie issue.
Level 4 is a SD customer IE window blinds Object desktop etc..
a level5 is a WC subscriber, they get the same as a SD subscriber, but all the perks of a WC subscriber.

OK, I'm still confused, but that would be a normal state for a redneck....
OK, my question, HG, is this.
Do you need to be a WC subscriber to get unlimited downloads?

Doesn't appear he's interested in much other than ranting, but I hope he gets it sorted out if he returns, since Dreams are nice & I wish I could run them on my rig. They won't for unknown technical reasons, which is why I'm on here posting so much about being ripped off. ![]()

So, by what you're saying, my 3rd pic (bottom) is inaccurate?

RD, I think both OD subscribers and WC subscribers are unlimited, if I understand ID correctly. Corollary - if you purchased a standalone app, you would need to be a WC subscriber to have unlimited D/L's, which might explain your 3rd pic.
Reply #19 Tuesday, December 21, 2010 2:25 PM
Jim, I believe that would be accurate for non subscribers to either WC or SD apps or those whose subscriptions have lapsed.
Let me Clairify,
SD customer with "current" subscription to a SD app = unlimited downloads.
WC subscriber = Unlimited downloads and subscriber skins, no ad's etc.
non subscriber, or subscriber whose sub has expired, = Download cap. Would need Pic number 3's option to continue to access WC libraries.

From info in another thread, there have been problems with download limits being inaccurately applied due to a glitch at times. No scam, no need to assume one & no need to launch a silly rant. Please post the specifics in this thread and someone should be able to help you.
