A Friend In Need
Community member in dire straits...

Guys and gals, I'm sure some of you have been wondering what has happened to our friend, Wizard1956. I know a few have asked and until now, I have been asked to keep a lid on it. Randy and Theda didn't want everyone knowing the have been having it a bit hard.
But just a few minutes ago, I talked to Wiz on the phone. He called to let me know that he'd be inaccessible until sometime next year, not for sure when.
A few weeks ago Wiz told me he would be losing internet due to his hours being cut. A week or so later, I decided to try calling him at work and was told he was let go. So he now has no job, no unemployment yet (pending), and no phone, TV, or internet. His wife's part time income barely keeps the rent paid and heat on. Things are progressively getting worse, and now he tells me his car is out of commission and his wife is walking to and from work. Oh, and food is scarce until he can get food stamps going. So even a walmart gift card would help...anything.
So, I guess I'm asking if anyone would like to send a card, a gift, or a small donation to help Randy and Theda with a little Christmas joy. I'm sure they would appreciate it, and so would I. I am sending a few bucks friday, just a small amount.
If someone would just send a Christmas card it would brighten their holiday. I'm sure it's a bummer being in this jam for the holidays.
Wizard has asked me to tell everyone at WC he says Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and that he will hopefully see us in a month or two.
If anyone wants to send him anything at all, a Christmas card, 5 bucks, a gift....anything...please PM me for his address. He has no bank account but can get small checks cashed at his wifes work.
I truly hope some of us can do something to cheer these people up for the holidays.
UPDATE....Wiz has opened a bank account so that he can get checks cashed. Those who have sent checks won't have to worry if he can use them.

Yeah and a big hello welcome home type reception for our resident Wizard. Besides ... who else is gonna keep the grinches away. huh. lol

I did get a PM from Wiz, wishing me a Merry Christmas. 
Lets hope he can get that connection fixed up.

Well, I spoke to him on his food stamp phone and he says thanks for all you guys have done. He says he got 15 cards from US, Australia, UK, and two from France a couple days ago. He said they appeared to have been opened and resealed, the ones from France.
Anyway, He and Tater are fine, a little behind on rent and the heat bill is doubled, but they are warm and fed. His unemployment still hasn't been approved, but Theda is still working.
He says he will try to get to the library to get online or to his brother's, so he can thank you guys personally. He says he's keeping the cards out on display because it reminds him that there are folks who care. He misses his friends here at WC.
And I miss my tester, and friend. Wiz and I are on Yahoo together probably at least 6 hours a day, every day, when he has internet, so I am truly having wizdrawal symptoms.

I do not personally know the Wiz and I know that I am late maybe with this, and I am from Canada, but I would like to know if he and his family still need help. I appreciate everyone here at WC and have truly been blessed with the items I have purchased and the help that I have received over the many years that I have been a member here, and I also know what it's like to be in need so please let me know how I can help, or if help is still needed...thank you

Webwoman, bless you for your kindness. I have emailed you with contact info. You are not too late, his plight is ongoing. I know lots of folks are having it rough, Wiz has no monopoly on that. So I am grateful for this great community and for you.
I know Randy and Theda will never forget this.

I got 'stoned' as it were long before I got here. I went looking for one and found the leaf and thought it was cool, so I used it. As for TTD .......
Bring on the trolls! I gonna thump 'em into the middle of next week. Just one question ... how do you know if someone is trolling? Just my lack-a-knowin' showing.

No matter. We know he was thinking of us as we were of him.
He'll get online when he does...and be welcomed then as much as he's missed now.
