A Friend In Need
Community member in dire straits...

Guys and gals, I'm sure some of you have been wondering what has happened to our friend, Wizard1956. I know a few have asked and until now, I have been asked to keep a lid on it. Randy and Theda didn't want everyone knowing the have been having it a bit hard.
But just a few minutes ago, I talked to Wiz on the phone. He called to let me know that he'd be inaccessible until sometime next year, not for sure when.
A few weeks ago Wiz told me he would be losing internet due to his hours being cut. A week or so later, I decided to try calling him at work and was told he was let go. So he now has no job, no unemployment yet (pending), and no phone, TV, or internet. His wife's part time income barely keeps the rent paid and heat on. Things are progressively getting worse, and now he tells me his car is out of commission and his wife is walking to and from work. Oh, and food is scarce until he can get food stamps going. So even a walmart gift card would help...anything.
So, I guess I'm asking if anyone would like to send a card, a gift, or a small donation to help Randy and Theda with a little Christmas joy. I'm sure they would appreciate it, and so would I. I am sending a few bucks friday, just a small amount.
If someone would just send a Christmas card it would brighten their holiday. I'm sure it's a bummer being in this jam for the holidays.
Wizard has asked me to tell everyone at WC he says Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and that he will hopefully see us in a month or two.
If anyone wants to send him anything at all, a Christmas card, 5 bucks, a gift....anything...please PM me for his address. He has no bank account but can get small checks cashed at his wifes work.
I truly hope some of us can do something to cheer these people up for the holidays.
UPDATE....Wiz has opened a bank account so that he can get checks cashed. Those who have sent checks won't have to worry if he can use them.

I can sympathize. My situation is not much different. Since November last my only resource has been a local shelter. If it weren't for kind hearted people I'd be up the creek for sure. I can't do anything money wise but I can send my sincerest wishes to them. Look for a PM from me.

Please send me their address ASAP, Dude. I want to send them something to help. Send to my e-mail at work, firstname.lastname@example.org. We've been in their shoes, so I know what they're going through.

RND I have been blessed with a good job so I want to help. Send me a PM with his info and I will send him a decent christmas gift by way of Western Union. It would probably be the easiest way for him to get the money not to mention the quickest. Just make sure he can easily get to one. I do not know him or where he lives but most places have a Western Union. He just has to get there and give them the mtcn number that I will pass on to him once the transaction is made.

OK, Junior. Just PM me when ready. I'll call his neighbor and pass the info. Will that be ok?

BTW guys, Wiz has said that it would really be cool to just get Christmas cards from places out of the US. He specifically mentioned Australia, and France.
We know people there.....

have been keeping an eye out for him as he's the recipient of my masterskin competition prize from starkers.... he wanted v's next blind.... so.. only thing I can think of, is if you pm me his address Jim, and John can put the 'V' blind and walls & accessories on a disc and post to him... so he can at least have them to play with in the meantime.... (thanks v... )
what a bummer... this time of year... and winter..... not good at anytime.... but this is the worst.... you would think companies could maybe hold off till the new year wouldn't you....

I know what they are going through. Been there twice now. I have a part time job now and a roof over my head but not much more. I can and do send my best wished and I hope things turn around quickly for the Wiz family.

That really sucks to hear! I wish I could help but I'm reaching up to touch bottom myself and eating rice and living in the dark! But if I can come up with something I'll let ya know Jim. Next time you talk/email/carrierpigeon him tell him I said hi and...I have a couch!

Giz, You could gather a few of your recent WS themes and burn to disc and send....he'd like that.
Just an idea, I'll tell him you said Merry Christmas when I hear from him again.

Please let Randy and Theda know that they are in my thoughts and prayers and that I wish them a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Years. I know that is a tall order to do with their current problems.
Jim, you sir are a good friend and community member. G B Y
