Simple one... How to reverse side of Min/max/close buttons
Friday, November 19, 2010 by thor_e | Discussion: WindowBlinds
Hey there.
This is likely an easy one for the longtimers here but I am fairly new to the win customising community.
I downloaded and installed leo_vista WB which gives me a beautifully rendered leopard type theme.
Only issue is where the min, max, close buttons are on the left, you cant get at them when launching office 2010 programs since those programs seem to use that space.
Question is...Does anyone know of a simple way to reverse them back to the original windows position on the Right?
And as a side question does anyone know of any even better leopard / snowleopard themes out there? I like the Mac look but not the function.
Thanks to anyone who can help this guy out.
Cheers
TJ

k10w3 - Thanks for the great tip, I didn't know you could do that. I'll try it out tonight on a few left sided skins I have in my library.

Absolutely, I agree - it worked for me!!! I always wanted to use a skin called 'Cold' but wouldn't because the buttons were on the right side. Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of the 'Apple' start button!

That could be either relatively easy to just slightly challenging depending on the start button you want to replace it with. Did you want the replacement to be animated, or just a simple button? If you just want a simple one, you could follow SkinStudio6 tutorial here: https://www.stardock.com/products/skinstudio/help/skinning_start_bar.htm#Making%20a%20New%20Start%20Button
If you want an animated one, there are 2 excellent tutorials:
1. https://forums.wincustomize.com/361416
2. https://forums.wincustomize.com/361485
I'll warn you ahead of time, "tweaking" skins will eventually lead to the hunger to create one from scratch, and once you've done that...the hunger only abates for a short time, BAM, you're addicted. ![]()

@k10w3: Thanks again! I didn't make a new start button, but I figured out how to import a button from another skin and it worked! I need to read those tutorials and figure out more stuff, but thanks again for your help!

You can change the side of the titlebar buttons (min/max/close) by opening the skin in SkinStudio, going to the section labeled "Edit titlebars and Windowframes", open the section labeled "Edit Per Pixel Buttons" and for each button, go to the "Position" tab and put the check in the "right hand side" radio button. Do the same thing for the "Edit UIS2 frames", "title bar buttons" if you use the UIS2 type of windowframe.
As far as better leopard/snowleopard themes, my favorite is iLook by adni18, which is a master skin, which you can get here: https://www.wincustomize.com/explore/windowblinds/7265/
I hope this helps.
