Stardock/WinCustomize Ratings

Just saying.....

Wednesday, November 10, 2010 by RedneckDude | Discussion: WinCustomize Talk

I may be called a suck up or a fanboy or even get razzed for this, but I just wanted to make a statement.

I use/have/subscribe to most of Stardock/WinCustomize products, as do most of us.  I read these forums daily, hell, I mostly live here.

I read a lot of posts where people are mostly bashing WC/Stardock, griping that nothing works right, complaining about what crap the software is, or how the site doesn't meet their wants/needs.

Some even complain about the content, as if they're forced to download/use it...lol.  You all know this all too well, as I said, we live here.

So, here is my statement:

I spend anywhere from 12 to 16 hours a day on my PC. Most of that time is spent in the forums, skinning something, or helping someone else do something having to do with WC/SD. I pretty much live in my cyber world, as frogboy recently said. I would like to say that even through all the bad things said about WC/SD, I can't imagine starting my PC without Stardock products.

As nice as Windows 7 is on it's own, I wouldn't like my PC much without Stardock.

So, let's all try to think about this when we want to rant and rave against SD/WC.           Just a redneck thought......

Nope don't need to be a kissup to be promoted, tho acting troll'ish can have the alternate effect.

Good post  RND.

I agree too. I try to help as best I can (when I can), but I really would prefer not seeing rants!

I do it and I ain't no suck up. I say what is true. All these problems people seem to have amazes me because I have not experienced them. Granted I don't have WB or some other apps but I do run a few. When I did have Windowblinds there was never a problem. I'm stickin' with WC/SD.

I don't comment much but I have to agree. I can't stand when I read the whiny/angry, consumer/victim crap! And it's almost always on a weekend or a holiday when there's less staff around. I've been using Stardock products for a couple of years and rarely have I encountered problems. And when I did, they were fixed easily. I couldn't imagine not using windowblinds, iconpackager and cursor fx for even a day!

Hey guys, good to see some positive comments!

I want to add that I have complained and whined a little, at times, we all do. SD products ain't perfect but I really can't imagine not having them.

And Uvah, you don't have WindowBlinds? Wassup with that? I absolutely couldn't do without it. I'd actually give up DX first, if I had to!

I realize you were kidding, Elsius. But I actually don't consider my work as Master quality. I could list a few names that I think should be master before me, but I won't. This thread isn't about that. This thread is about how bad a job Microsoft does with the GUI, and how great a job Stardock does to help us remedy that.

That said, I also send a big thanks to Stardock for WindowFX 4 and an even bigger thanks to the Admins, Wizops, Moderators and Developers/Coders who build and keep this site going for us to use as our "hub" to share work and information. I think WinCustomize offers a great service to us.

I have met people here that I otherwise wouldn't have known. Some of them have become some of my best friends.

I have been able to learn things I would not have had the chance to learn otherwise. (Even some things about right and wrong.)

Not just about skinning either, but things about other cultures and things about life and people in general, info I may not have had access to otherwise.

Ok, enough. I could go on to make a fool of myself, but I do enough of that in the forums daily. Just ask Yrag.

Thanks Stardock/WinCustomize and even more so, Thanks to all my peers for all the support you give to each other! It is that that makes this "hub" our home.

Had the trial version. But that lasted thirty days. I'm not complaining mind you. I'm talking with a friend who might be able to lend me the bucks for the full version Object Desktop. Better to go all the way than just a little part of it. If not then I'm no worse off than I was before. Don't forget I'm only back what, five months or a little more. I'm a patient person.

Definitely. If I had known you didn't have WB, which I consider an absolute necessity, I would have hooked you up when it was on sale.

But the full package is the way to go. Economically, it is a very good deal.

RND...I see my cheque made it through the mail....

No, seriously, it's all too rare that people take the time to show they appreciate what's done by Stardock with and for skinning in general, and this community in particular.

It's almost a safe bet I'm here more consistently than most [there's a logoff button?], and as needs must have to endure the odd 'twit' or two to help keep things running 'smooth' [tho I have some great links for Nike runners - see me at the left-locker department at Central station....ask for 'Bruce'].

I haven't run 'naked' since first encountering Windowblinds way back last millennium [always sounds impressive], and would really feel lost without 'some form' of skinning on my machine/s.

I have several 'mementos' from all this time/association with Stardock....but I think the real 'prized' one is the Boxed edition of WB I snaffled last September at SD HQ. [Thanks, Kris]...

I can't imagine my computer without Stardock on it. I have to stare at unskinned XP at work...and, one computer even has Windows 2000! It's a blessing to come home to skins that don't give me a headache.

We all complain a bit, but I know for us 'regulars', it's because we want the best for something we love.

It can seem like there are a lot of people complaining in the forums sometimes, but there are way more satisfied customers out there who don't need to say anything, because it simply works the way it is supposed to.

Good post, Jim.

I can't spend as much time skinning or being here as you red and despite a little growl from me now and then I agree with you.

Hey a little soap will get that brown stuff off your nose!

Good post Jim. I think I can safely say I will never own a computer  without using some sort of SD software on it. No matter how good a GUI may be, Object Desktop, CFX and OD can give it far more usability, style and class.

A little constructive grumbling can be a good thing, being rude or disrespectful never is.  We all have our complaints about one thing or another but things are improving.  I'm glad Stardock is a company that will listen to both good and bad feedback and they have been listening. It shows on the site and in the software we use  every day.

And Jim ,one thing to remember. "The difference between a brown-nose and a shithead is........depth perception."

"The difference between a brown-nose and a shithead is........depth perception."

Not to mention the location of aforementioned shit. On top is a mess all in your hair, you do have hair right? as opposed to just being on your nose. but then again you can smell it better on your nose. Happy up-kissing.

I got the go-ahead for the full package. All I need is a mailing address so I can send a money order. Don't have PayPal. And if at all possible can I get it on CD. I'd like to add it to my collection.
