transparent backgrounds on screen fonts - WB4

Friday, August 1, 2003 by battletank | Discussion: Stardock Software

Hi - I've got a (hopefully simple) question. I have two computers, both with WB4 installed, and the same skin. On one, the desktop text has no background, and has a nice shadow. On the other PC, the desktop text has a block of solid colour behind it - I've no idea how to change this.

Just a wild guess, but it sounds like you might be running windowFX on one computer, and not on the other.

On the computer that is not showing a shadow, right click My Computer. Choose Properties\Advanced\Visual Effects and tick "Use drop down shadows for icon labels on the desktop" if it is an XP operating system. If it's an older operating system, I don't think it can be fixed.
