Jafo...sorry for opening a can of worms here. All I wanted was to lower my blood pressure and elicit some sympathy from my fellow skinners.

Trial and error, however inefficient, does work for some issues, but will not help you in the least with program glitches.(trial and error may be what caused some of these problems.By trying things I shouldnt and confusing the program enough to corrupt the skin)Tuning up some of these things would make a cool program a fantastic program.Telling someone to RTFM when there isnt one and then telling people to stop whining and figure it out yourself isnt helping, just adding to the frustration.

I dont like feeling like I need a break from skinning.I'm actually afraid I will find something else to do.

Airlock uses tga's for the Pull Down Item and Bar Items.

I just noticed that too. But, the image is a square. Therefore, you can't see the black and realize that the tga's transparency didn't work.

Thanks I.R., peace Jafo, I was just joking around.

You could try chasing girls. But that can be much more frustrating. I like making mine angry by sitting on my computer making skins.

Pull down items support both TGA translucency and BMP magic pink transparency. With TGA, the only suggestion I can make is that your are sure the file is saved correctly (32bit with alpha channel). I'm told Photoshop CS doesn't save TGA's with the alpha channel like PS7 does, so that would be a problem. I've never tried importing a PNG, so I don't know how well that works. I always save my TGA's directly from PS7.

The items themselves support transparency but the actual menu background does not. I guess I am confused about the specific images or something. PixelPirate, Your glosswb uses magic pink for the items. Most skins do. Is it the actual background you are talking about? My version of airlock uses .bmp images for the background and .tgas for the items. Yeah, I must be lost.

Photoshop CS saves tga's as 32bit with the alpha channel. At least mine does? I was talking about the items. I was just messing around in SS, putting a new skin together. But the bar items or wouldn't show correctly whether it be tga or bmp,it just used the unskinned color instead, and that drove me nuts. I think I'll start over with a fresh template. I haven't had that problem before

oops, I thought that was the background. If you click the background it is so close to the item in Airlock. Back on subject, I import png's all the time. It's much easier than trying to take the magic pink runover? out of a image. Especially when your image has a translucent shadow. There are PNG and TGA settings that must be set right in your paint program. Otherwise everything will go to "hell in a handbasket".

but the actual menu background does not

What I don't understand is why all the attributes are available for transparency and translucency in a menu background when it doesn't work.
