how to make bootskins and logons?

Wednesday, May 12, 2004 by Elite Ninja | Discussion: Skinning

Does SkinStudio cover them, if so how do I make/edit them, if not what is a good program that does?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

There's a BootSkin tutorial here http://www.wstaylor.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2177#2177

And there's a link to a helper program in this thread..  https://www.wincustomize.com/browser/msgboard.asp?BID=WCS&id=265560

I don't know of any LogonStudio tutorials, but it's not hard to figure out if you use existing logons as a guide.

Photoshop is the best program to use to create skins.
To make them compatible with Bootskin, you have to go to Image: Mode: Index Color: Then set the number of colors to 16 an lastly save your image as a 4 bit bmp file

When I change my boot skin, my computer doesnt boot. It loading up till the moment the bootskin should apear and it
restarts, then i have to boot in safe mode to change my bootskin to the original Windows skin.

Thats a problem with your BIOS Nasok666, You may have to check to see if its the latest updates. Also, some older computers (expecially older Dell's) don't seem to work with OS editing software

I just checked WHILE I was logged in and they weren't. No biggie, I hate bootskins anyway, I need COLOR, I'll stick with Logons
