I need advice on skinning

Tuesday, February 17, 2004 by Humdizzy | Discussion: Skinning

I've made my first skin. I had problems though because I couldn't keep the colors where i wanted cause as soon as I would click off of the peice i was working with it would change back to the default. I need help on how to keep colors in the place I want. So Thats why my first skin now is black. By the way Im using SkinStudio. I also would like to know. How do I get new like peices. Like instead of XP Default where can I get the othere peices. Or do I have to make them. Thank you to anyone who is reading this and I hope you can help me with my problem.

I'm not sure what was happening with the colours (or even for certain where you might have been changing them), but to be considered "your" first skin, you'd need to make every part of it yourself.

If it's based on someone else's work and you've just tweaked the colours then it's not new work I'm afraid.

In Skin Studio, if you double click on an item it should open your default graphic editor. If you then design and make new graphics to replace those default graphics, then it would be your skin.

If you don't have a good graphics editing program, this process will be almost impossible, so you may need to start by getting something like PaintShop Pro and learning how to use it. It also might be a good idea to sketch out how you want the final skin to look before you start.

Have fun, and as you make progress you can show off your work by making a screen shot of it as your desktop image in your profile

Lol Ty. I have almost every photo imaging program lol. I got them all from the computer show. So this will be easy. But when I double click it opens up paint. How do I change it to PSP or PS
