Quoting Island Dog from the thread sydney linked to, IMO it applies here also

Problem has been taken care of, no need to extend the thread beyond this.

you're quite right...and this thread shouldn't be a post mortem of speculation of what happened...

but you won't stop people being curious who come to pick up an Ausvet dream etc and suddently find nothing there from the site's No 1 skinner for downloads......and have no idea of what's happened...that's human nature...

I would just like to make the point...... as others here have as well.... that we don't know what the complete story is.... that's Ausvet's business.... but to extend a friendly hand from us, in an awkward situation..... to make sure he knows that he is a valued member of the community..... and we hope he continues in whatever capacity he wishes to...

Agreed.

I think it's wrong for any of us to speculate why his gallery was taken down.

This should be kept between the Admins and Ausvet.

For what ever reason the gallery has been removed be it by the admins or by Ausvet himself, it is between Ausvet and the admins. so please refrain from speculation while the jury is still out..

nothing there from the site's No 1 skinner for downloads......

A slight correction (if you meant overall downloads)--adni18 is (and has been, for a long time) No.1 in downloads.

Yeah...this wouldn't be a very good community if we just forgot people that have been here a long time and contributed a lot. This whole thing sounds to me to be a misunderstanding or lack of clear information...I'm just guessing since I don't know. There are plenty of images out there in the net that I'm sure could be used by Ausvet with permission to continue on...the only question remaining is...does he want to? From what I've seen in daily uploads it shouldn't be to hard to crank out some more dreams...seems to be an assembly line anymore of those things. So just give Ausvet some time to lick his wounds and "maybe" he'll crank out some more.

Syd, Giz, Jim.... you guys are great. We all owe Patrick our loyalty as friends....and that shouldn't change because he's always been a very caring and nice person. As Gammeldansk said, "A genteman".

I too would love to see a dream made of my wall...Doc's Summer Pond...Please, Patrick? I never had the nerve to ask you to do that as it wasn't accepted here in the wallpaper gallery...I think you'd do a wonderful job on it, and I'd be so honored to be the first in your new Gallery.

Looking at his profile suggests he hasn't been here since.

I think what you have is someone who has made an error of judgement and is feeling pretty terrible about it all. The best thing we can do is encourage Ausvet to start again.

We all do things which at times makes us feel bad. It's at that point you need friends to lift you up and give you strength.

We don't know officially what's happened so there is no possibility for us to judge, any way I think that probably it's not allowed to Ausvet to participate to the forum (otherwise he already did) furthermore he cannot upload new skins at the moment

imo it's easy to create a wallpaper from a video loop but the opposite should be very hard also for Ausvet ( hoping that Ausvet is reading and that sooner or later will prove I'm wrong ! )

He may post to the forum or upload, its his choice.  So let it be for now.  I can't wait till hes got new work to upload.

Really?  Way to much compassion towards someone that..
did not have permission

I have been hoping Ausvet can regroup and give us some more wonderful dreamsMaybe his own?

He couldn't have gotton all the dreams from there, could he!

Torrents anyone? A rip is a rip!

This is directly from that web site's home page:  "License once, use forever, wherever" so it sounds as though it would be okay to use it wherever once you pay your money.  But... the TOU mixes the terms "sell" and "license."  I read them and it is very easy to misunderstand/misinterpret their terms.  A sale means the person buys it and OWNS it.  A License means the right to USE it according to specific terms.  The two terms are not interchangeable.  Microsoft does not sell Windows.  They license Windows with specific rights and limitations.  That web site needs to get an attorney to rewrite their TOU and make it clear and consistent.

I don't know Ausvet so I have no personal stake in this but the site he paid so much money to will never see any of mine.  Like many others here, I feel bad about what happened but management did what they needed to do.  Just hope Ausvet takes some time to recover and comes back with some new work.  He wasn't trying to rip anyone off.  He simply made a mistake.  To me that just makes him human - and a very talented one too.

Creating a decent wall from a video clip depends upon the quality of the clip itself. Sometimes it's not that easy.

Creating a video clip from a wall isn't that hard as long as you have a program like "Corner-A ArtStudio" or "Nature Illusion Studio", both of which have been featured on the Give away of the day website.

Just an opinion here but I think the whole thing sucks! He bought them and made them into freeware are they serious? I mean it isnt like we are buying them from him and arent those crazy high prices for news channels and the like. I mean who....i repeat....who in their right mind would pay those prices to make a dream for themselves? If they had any sense they would offer the best dream makers and stardock the videos and let them sell the videos in dream form at a much reduced rate. Ive seen many videos on these sites that i would pay a couple of bucks to have as a dream and even more for good triggered ones. If music videos lasting 5 or more minutes with superstars in them can be sold for 2 bucks why cant someone come up with a good way to use these great videos! Im not against paying but lets get real here! Ps...if anyone could make a cool ferris wheel at night video in time lapse I would love it!
