corel draw/photoshop/paintshop...personal pros/cons...anyone?

this artist is still trying to decide which software to buy...seeking opinions...beginners...old timers...and everyone in between...

I love Animation Shop that come's with Paint Shop Pro some good addon's, however i love my Adobe all are really good it just depends how you use them. Mormegil's main tool is Corel, i've never used it but it seem's to be great with vector's etc, well really everything as you can tell from Paul's work.
If you do choose one learn it and learn it well, read up on the manufacturer's websites that appeals to what you want to do.

My personal preference is PSP. 8.10 has some nice vector tools. You can try it for 30 days.... http://jasc.com/products/paintshoppro/

Zn40, CorelDraw is a Vector based program. Designed primarily for drawing. In other words if you wanted to do a lot of Raster type images (jpg, bmp, gif, png) Photoshop is more geared for that.
Styl Skinner, As far as being worth the upgrade... I really think that it would depend totally on whether use the new features. I upgraded but the biggest NEW helpfull thing for what I do is the style nesting and also new is the "Text on Path" thing so you can make your text follow a path. Other than that.......

I personally like Photoshop more, its more easy to learn. and its fast, since almost every fucntion can be accessed by hot-key.
I have corel draw 10, but I didn't figure out how to use it yet....
is it worth to upgrade from Photoshop 6,7 to CS?
I don't think it is necessary for skinner.
New features like Shadow/highlight provide a easier way of adjust image, but I don't like the result. I still feel better with the old way(Brightness and Contrast, Hue/Situation)
And "Text on Path" I used to do it with Illustrator, now it is a build in function with Photoshop CS.
If you do not have any older version of Photoshop that is available for upgrade.
Then you can think about Photoshop CS, but if you have Photoshop 7 or even 6...it depend on you whether you want those
new features or not.
