Thursday, July 29, 2010 by Island Dog | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Today we have released the latest update to the ObjectDock Plus 2 beta, which brings it up to version 1.98.  This update brings lots of user reported fixes and some new features.

The v1.98 update includes:

  • Added "AeroPeek"-like functionality to application shortcuts (Brings AeroPeek-like function to XP as well!)
  • URLs no longer open as all-lowercase
  • Tabbed docks no longer show titles of icons at inappropriate times (e.g. dock is hidden beneath taskbar, when mouse goes over taskbar icon titles would show up)
  • Fixed 64-bit issue where 64-bit apps would not have running indicators
  • Skype now works propertly when opened from the ObjectDock system tray
  • "Weather" no longer missing from docklet list
  • "Flyout" no longer missing from docklet list
  • SHIFT+Right-click on file entries on the dock to bring up their full file-menu

Customers who have upgraded to ObjectDock Plus 2 will find the update available now in Impulse.  You can still purchase the ObjectDock Plus 2 upgrade which gives you access to the beta.  More info can be found here - https://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/

Still not able to get a "floating" dock so I will try one of the free one's on the internet. I am disappointed not to be able to do such a simple task.

I think only the tabbed docks can be dragged around.  The zoomer docks require you to use sliders to repo them around into unusual locales.

Is objectdock v2 going to be available to object desktop users or do we need to purchase the program for $19.99 or the upgrade for $9.99? Also if we are to get it with our Object desktop subscriptions, how do I get the beta to play with? Thanks

ObjectDock is not included in ODNT. It's a separate program.

Nice update, but would really love to see the option to change the font on the tab labels come back, as well as the option to reset the tab colors to none (some backgrounds don't have the color-enable/disabled option and automatically applies any selected tab colors). Would also LOVE to see an option to apply the same color to all tabs at once instead of having to do them manually one by one.

I was hoping for some sort of stacks like requested by a lot of people. I find the flyout menu unusable as it is much to 'nervous' when scrolling through.

Another issue that i wanted to point out, is that flyout menu, while nice, is very slow. the time it takes to open up i could browser to the full path twice over. So i fix would be awesome

A good solution for flyouts, and a compromise concerning stacks would be

Categories, which Stardock originally did for the Dell Dock.
