Mine is getting tired...

Just a simple question. How do I change my avatar? The whole site is different and I'm getting lost half the time.

In Hinduism, Avatar or Avatāra (Devanagari अवतार, Sanskrit for "descent" [viz., from heaven to earth]) refers to a deliberate descent of a deity (an incarnation of a deva (god) from heaven to earth, or a descent of the Supreme Being (i.e., Vishnu for Vaishnavites) and is mostly translated into English as "incarnation", but more accurately as "appearance" or "manifestation".

Yes, westerners often try to put other culture's concepts into an already created paradigm or 'box.' Actually, everybody probably does this. "Incarnation' is a christian concept that has the divine BECOME human. Avatars, as I understand them, don't change the deity, but merely modify the deity's appearance and location, so lesser beings (humans) can meaningfully interact with them. Raj, is this a fair understanding of avatar?

I think it's quiet beautiful. And personally I don't believe in reincarnation or a wolf deity in my wolf avatar. And might I add, permission is usually
called on before just moving on somebodies business.
But I digress.
Just wondering. Do you pray to your avatar? Inquiring minds you know.

Well whatever meaningful interactions he's into he should at least explain the url's he posted. I thought that was considered spam which is why I made that comment. He's a member for all of one day so maybe the benefit of the doubt applies.

Avatar on this site: I am frustrated.
I have tried, several times, to remove, delete, replace the 'spocks hand in stained glass' avatar image that displays with my posts. I keep getting error messages -200 500 and am told to 'try again later.'
Does anyone have a work around on this (besides deleting my account)? Thank you

Fascinating!
Ultimately, you know those are your thoughts. Right? ![]()
And like The Wiz said, go to my account (top left), images, then get a new avatar.

From the forums, click on the My Account link (right under the Welcome) then go to the Images tab to upload your avatar...if, and that's a big if, it is working now. If not, go to Joeuser and upload, worked for me.
