WHAT DOES THAT MEAN????
1. The primary rainbow always forms at an angle of 42 degrees to the observer (therefore, the lower the sun is, the higher the rainbow appears).
2. The secondary rainbow forms at an angle of 51 degrees to the observer, and the colors are reversed because light reflects twice in each raindrop.
3. You see the dark zone between the rainbows? That's called Alexander's dark belt.
4. Sometimes rainbows can be seen to shimmer. That's usually caused by thunder vibrations.

I watched an entire hour of documentary on rainbows...I think doc watched the same one.
They had rainbows I had never even heard of.
Full on doubles occur frequently in Colorado because it tends to lightly rain while the sky is only partly cloudy a lot.
