The guy sounded as if he was having the best orgagsm of the lifetime.

...sounds like this guy is getting a b__w job from his girlfriend !!!

Sounded a bit that way, didn't it!!!

But I thought only women cried after climax... this bloke????

Could the double rainbow be the result of the tears in his eyes??

I saw a triple rainbow once.... was at sea off Bougainville in '73.  No vid-cams back in them days, of course.

Oh, come on guys--I think it's refreshing to see someone get so stoked about the simple yet complex wonders of nature, in this world where it's so easy to get jaded.

He's seriously blissed out on something NOT related to drugs or sex -- that's a wonderful thing.  And then, his bliss gave rise to the Double Rainbow Song, which is genius, totally made my day.

OMG! Its so beautiful -- the double rainbow thread!

What it means is that The L-rd will never flood the earth again as he did in the old testemant days! It's a G-d thing!

jazzi.... please forgive the slight alteration of the quote. I only did that because it appears as part of this response.

At this point in the Biblical text, G-d establishes His first covenant with all of humanity. G-d pledges that "never again will all flesh be destroyed by a flood," and the sign of this Divine Covenant is indelibly embedded within nature by the formation of the rainbow in the heavens, often appearing in the sky after a rainfall (Genesis 9:11-16).

The 12th-century Biblical commentary by Ramban (Nahmanides) has a striking explanation for the symbol of the rainbow: ancient cultures fought their wars with the bow and arrow, and the side which surrendered, pursuing peace instead of war, would express their will to do so by raising an inverted bow that the enemy could see. Similarly, G-d places an inverted bow in the heavens as a sign that He is no longer warring against humanity. It is as if G-d came to terms with the imperfection of His creation.

In the 19th century, Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch suggested an even deeper meaning to the rainbow's symbolism. When we look upon the glorious colors of the rainbow, we are dazzled by the red, orange, yellow, green, blue indigo and violet. In truth, however, these colors only appear to be different hues and shades; they are all light refractions of white, the one true base of all of them. So, too, with the cosmos of humanity; so many peoples of different colors and diverse ethnic backgrounds, all emanating from the "womb" of the one G-d who created them, who all are united by the spark of the Divine which gives them life.

It is Rabbi Hirsch's interpretation that I love deeply.

Karen....I love the precision of science....but a deep part of me turns to and yearns for the beauty of that ancient poetry and all the thought it inspires as well. I see no contradiction for G-d made me as I am, and I love Him for that gift. It was, is and always will be imperfect, but the love that gave it was, is and eternally will be perfect.

In the vein of being imperfect ....Who's gonna smack that bitch?

You know, I can't handle that. Crying, because the rainbow is beautiful. There are real things to cry about out there.

Maybe he should come down from the mountain with the MJane and Mushrooms.

Frack!

Oh, and I have never seen a dbl rainbow. Wishes and rainbows.

I'm not going to judge anybody for the things they wish to believe in or the ideas that help them through this life.  I WILL judge people for using those beliefs and ideas to judge and hurt others who believe differently than they do.  That's the last I'm going to say about religion/faith here.

I see beauty and poetry in science -- the fact that it is forever new, forever unfolding, with new discoveries every day, the freshness of it, does things to me, touches me in completeness where my prior beliefs (in supernatural things) touched me only in part.

If anybody wants to take my joy for science and read that as some sort of jab toward their faith, then perhaps their problem isn't so much with me and what I believe, but in what THEY believe (because what I remember of my faith when I had it, G-d/God created science--the 2 do not have to be mutually exclusive).

I agree, Karen. There is truth in beauty an vice versa and both science and religion are imbued with both....remember "Contact" (Jody Foster)? The flick said a great deal to me about this very topic.
