Brief News: XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 Released

As part of Windows XP Service Pack 2, which will make its full official debut today, Microsoft has upgraded the operating system for Tablet PCs. Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 offers a redesgined input panel, in-place correction, better integration with Office System, and wireless improvements. According to Microsoft's Officials, "Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 is a significant step toward delivering on our vision of incorporating Tablet PC functionality as a standard mobile feature in notebook PCs."
A new development kit, version 1.7, was also released with ink support for Web-based applications.
The upgrade will be sent to Tablet PC users via the Automatic Updates feature of Windows.
Some New Features:
• A redesigned Tablet PC Input Panel that makes it easier to convert ink to text.
• Enhanced integration with Microsoft Office System programs—Word 2003, PowerPoint 2003, Outlook 2003, and OneNote 2003—which makes the pen a more natural and useful tool for your everyday tasks.
• Improvements to word, case, and context recognition.
• A new platform for developers that creates a rich environment for creating ink-enabled applications.
