I prefer my TotalCommander and let it skin by WindowBlinds.

This looks suspiciously like ExplorerPlus. I've used various versions of PowerDesk Pro up to version 5. I think this program is merely marketed and rebadged by VCom and is functionaly identical to ExplorerPlus. Which I believe is $10 - 15 cheaper.

I think it isn't worth the money.
I also prefer Total Commander. The only negative with Total Commander is that you don't have a viewer then that can handle many formats.

ExplorerPlus is made by the same guy that made the first Version of PowerDesk so It'll look close.
I purchased it...still has a few bugs. I've switched back to Magellan Explorer for now.
If you can get the upgrade price it might be worth it.

Well, I'm enjoying it very much! The one thing that always bugged me about previous versions is fixed..... folder icons are now corrected, and no longer default (ick) icons. PixelCargo... as far as the icons go, you can have as many or as few as you wish. They're just shortcuts, and are customizable.

I purchased PD6 a couple of days ago. I've always wanted to be able to see my customized icons in PD and now I can. It is worth the price. Try the FTP yet? >

I think the version I have is still not the final....I'll need to pass on some 'bug-hunting' reports....
Bought PD Pro 4.....[online and hard copy]
Bought PD Pro 5.....[online upgrade]
Received PD Pro 6.....in Beta [pulling wings off the bugs]
Trying Trial of Exp Plus.....[quite probably will purchase as well].
Being a Litestep user means you like to shy away from enduring Explorer.exe as the File Manager....not when it's already been replaced as the shell.
Using an alternate shell means you're more likely to notice oddities in the file manager's performance as the explorer process isn't loaded at all.
Both Exp Plus and PD6 have inferior 'viewers' to the first release ver of PD5....png viewing in the latter and display 'choices' [draft, preview] in both.
PD6's 'skinnability' built-in is really handy for those without WB and becomes a new 'outlet' for WB skinners to ply their wares...

I tried PD5 and liked it quite a bit, and only stopped using it because I was looking for something a little more polished looking. I wound up trying Directory Opus from GPS Software and liked it alot as well. The PD6 update looks worthwhile, but I've gotten used to certain "power user" niceties I've found in Dopus like...
- when you hit to rename a file it only highlights the filename prefix, not the extension.
- when you copy a file to a folder where that filename already exists, Dopus let's you replace or rename the file to your preference during the copy operation.
- there is a 'size' button that calculates the size of folders (contents) and reports it in the main file viewing window.
Nothing major, but quick little productivity boosters that I find myself enjoying the ease of use of dozens of times every day. If V-Com were only to add in these kinds of functions as 'options' or whatever, I'd buy in a heart beat insetad of Dopus... mainly because of the easier to use custom toolbar and now the new skinning feature. But my trial for Dopus will run out shortly and I'll need to make a decision soon because explorer truly sucks once you've come to depend on 'alternatives'.
Once annoying problem I've had with every explorer replacement I've tried is that if I perform operations on files in a folder, and subsequently try to delete that parent folder I cannot. With PowerDesk I could just close the current window and open it up again, but with Dopus, I have to kill the Dopus.exe process in task manager and re-launch it. Very annoying and I wonder if running on top of the WinXP explorer shell is causing it... With Dopus I tried the "Replace Explorer as default shell" option but it did not help.
