DesktopX 2.2 is coming...

If you have Object Desktop (www.objectdesktop.com) then you know that DesktopX 2.2 is just about ready to go. It's been in development for half a year now and for good reason - lots of cool new features and enhancements.
DesktopX lets you enhance your existing Windows desktop with objects. These objects can do all kinds of interesting things (both visually and functionally). You can combine them together and export them as entire desktops (themes) or export them as mini-programs called "widgets" (or share the objects themselves with others.
In the past year or so, "widgets" have started to get popular. On the Mac, there's a program called Konfabulator that does widgets very well. Apple is jumping into the act in MacOS Tiger with "Dashboard". On the PC there's Samurize, Kapulses, and probably others I'm forgetting.
But before all of them, there was DesktopX. What makes DesktopX special is that even end users can make their own objects. Of course, there's a downside, a lot of the stuff that gets uploaded can be a little..rough. We're working to push "certification" so that you can find the more polished widgets/objects/themes more quickly.
However, one thing is certain, pretty much every kind of widget you can imagine exists on DesktopX in a pretty mature, solid form.

I have had nothing but problems and issues with the 2.1 version(DX must close error after you try to load it 
) It drives me insane

Other than the fact that AveDesk is free (and I'm not knocking it [AveDesk] at all, its a great app and I use it along w/ DX widgets) what do you think is the main reason for the appearance of some quality objects for it in such a short time of it's life? Quality objects keep appearing for it all the time.
No disrespect to any DX contributos btw, I've used DX for years and enjoyed some quality works on it.

which is the media player in dashboard. I know the one in dashboard looks a helluva lot like the one in Konfab, so I'm not complaining, but I'm just curious as to who made that widget for DX? Thanks!

If you go somewhere like Aqua-Soft, where Mac emulation is popular, this is nothing unusual.
And it was _Martin_ who coded it, not sure about the gfx, but they are good

I have Avedesk and it's pretty nice. However, there aren't very many widgets for it.
There are more nice DesktopX objects/widgets by far, but as a percent, there are fewer. That's because anyone can create a DesktopX object while creating an Avedesk widget is much tougher so only those more dedicated will create ones.
