ObjectDock Plus: RC1

Friday, August 6, 2004 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

1.02 RC1

x-Repaired all known handle leaks! Major fix x-Icon size sliders no longer snap to preset values, you are free to choose any size.

x-high probability that firefox freezing on activate problem has been fixed.

x-100% CPU when using nVidia's VWM "nView". This has been fixed.

x-Taskbar reshowing when its supposed hidden, most often during flashing on dual displays: this has been fixed.

x-Taskbar on zoomer not displaying right x-Calendar refreshed (yes, I know we need to tweak the image alignment

slightly)

x-Clock docklets consolidated

Things not addressed:

-combing through weather docklet code

-zoomer dock being unhappy when completely empty -old separator remaining when switching to a new zoomer dock without one (not sure if this is a problem

still)

-100% cpu condition with power meter (nvidia fixes might help) -report of no fonts for tab labels -report of forgetting to stay always on top -we're not seeing the 100% transparent issue with the zoomer dock here so far, is it still happening for people?

There will be another RC build or two next week, but we're in buttoning up mode with major things right now. No new features until after official release.

cool

Glad the Nvidia Nview VWM problem is fixed, I wasn't able to use the beta release I had because of the 100% CPU problem.

I have spotted a couple of issues with the tray tab with RC1.

1) It only has icons for items started after object plus was started, the existing items in the tray are missing.

2) The icons the tray tab are fuzzy, looks like they are magnified images of the system tray icons rather than the appropriate size of icon within the exe itself.

A request:
To be able to drag icons from a fly-out menu to any dock.

Hi again

I am having a problem with one specific application adding it to a tabbed dock. When I add a new short cut to Adobe Photoshop CS the icon defaults to to one in the icons provided in Object dock +, if I Dock Entry Properties and change image I can not get it to use the icon in the photoshop.exe.

This only applies to Photoshop CS all the other Adobe products, illustrator etc use the icon in the exe.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

An option to change the scroll left/right, up/down and expand arrows would be nice.

alpha - you have to set ObjectDock to autostart and then reboot to get all the system tray items. There's no way for a program to know what items were added to the system tray BEFORE it was created.

Many thanks for the update Frogboy. In that case I'll have to remove the sys tray tab from my OD+ as there is no way that I know to make sure OD+ is the first item to start at boot time. And to be honest if that were possible I would what my firewall to be the very first item anyway.

If you have MCP running I beliee ObjectDock will make use of it.  Not sure if MCP currently comes with ObjectDock Plus but it does come with Stardock Central.

Hey.

I have a problem when i try to play games. The ObjectDock is trying to come through on top of the game window, which makes playing games with this loaded impossible. This is a major problem for me. Would be nice if that could be addressed.

Strange. I never had that problem at all.

After starting OD+, I have to shutdown and restart Component Tray for it to become visible in OD+

For me, when I move my mouse over a zoomer dock, and move it away very fast, it sometimes sticks zoomed. It's funny, sometimes it sticks and sometimes it doesn't.

RC1 seems to have improved with Altdesk and the problem it had with ODP loking up at 100%. It might be too early to tell, but so far so good. I have switched desktops about 20 times consecutively with apps minimized and not with total success...

Is there any way to keep minimized application images from resetting to the icon when a desktop is changed? Does nVidia's VWM have this issue too?

alpha mentioned the problem with the systray icons in the tabbed dock and I agree they look weird, but most are after all not meant to be large icons (they aren't vector graphics so can't zoom well). I simply replaced them with another adequete graphic and kept a systray size icon in the corner on it.
I don't believe there is a way to access the exe automatically to create a larger icon. Also some programs don't have good enough icons in their exe anyway.

if i make my dock back ground completely transparent the icons become very jittery on mouse rollover. no more smooth transistions in size as the mouse passes over them!!

if i give the dock background just a small amount of opacity then the problem goes away.

I had the jittery mouse over as well. I went back to an earlier build and all is well. Hope they fix this.

This looks like a great product. Like Dock meets Tab Launchpad one of my faviorates. What I dont understand is why this is not part of the OD suite. Just my 2cents.
