The British Government has been making a lot of fuss recently about how it has spent £10million on a booklet to advise us Brits how to deal with certain events. Obviously this is NOT just due to terrorist threats because Mr Blair tells us so.Whilst I wait for this booklet to drop through my letterbox, and pray that that no emergencies occur that I am unprepared for, they have produced a website.
Far more interesting than this is their neglect to register www.preparingforemergencies.co.uk and the parody website that has been put there.
I know it's a serious subject, but those who don't find this amusing (including the UK government) need to lighten up.

geez do they really think the general public is that brainless that they'll actually mistake the parody for actual information?
it's an insult to the british government's mental intelligence that they would even contemplate writing a letter to the host of that website, much less the farce of the words they placed within that letter.

I think they're worried about citizen alzheimers with general safety precautions or something! That kind of paranoia is totally crazy! Here in the US, we worry about ourselves mostly. But for Heaven sakes, we don't get a booklet like they tell us to read carefully on the airplane to simply live somewhere. Safety is common sense most of the time. Or else this booklet is for people with a lack of brain cells.

What I think is so stupid about the pamphlet is that it is common sense like "in the case of a Nuclear Winter - make sure you have food to eat". No duh.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahah this is great!!!!!! What we should all do is boykote "democracy" in US and UK and get those bustards out of their seats! After that maybe even appologise to few nations accross the worls for crimes we commited upon them! Great text!

Hey, the never mentioned duct tape or sheets of plastic! And I thought they were concerned about the saftey of the citizens! Just goes to show you, they don't really care.
You know, if they truly cared about the citizens they would tell them that little secret they told us about what to do during a nuclear attack ...hide under your desk! Oh, and don't forget to wrap yourself in plastic and duct tape your butt, this way they won't have to search for the pieces.

@ wulfn - Have you seen what the government has made the country in the past few years? It's become such a nanny state that even strict babysitters are put to shame. At least the General Election is next Summer for us - Sooner Blair's out the better >

To be honest, the actual leaflet is a load of BS. I was in Warrington at the time of the IRA bomb in '93, and we never needed any of this "info" - We just got on and repaired the damage. Needing all of this is an insult to the population.
