ObjectDock Plus arrives on Friday!

ObjectDock is a freeware program that gives users the ability to easily manage their tasks and programs in a very slick way. It also supports plugins in the form of "docklets".

But...

Stardock has also been working on ObjectDock PLUS! The plus version features a ton of new features based off of our own use of ObjectDock and feedback from the thousands of ObjectDock users out there. Things that make ObjectDock Plus a very powerful yet simple program for turbo-charging your Windows desktop. 

Check out this preview to get an idea of what's coming.  ObjectDock Plus should be available in BETA form quite soon.  It will cost $19.95 for new users or $14.95 for current Object Desktop users.

 

ObjectDock Plus supports multiple docks on the desktop of different styles (tabbed and untabbed)

Tabbed docks can have the system tray in them. Hold down the left mouse button on a system tray item and you can change its image.

Taskbar items can be grouped together like the default Windows taskbar.

Docks can be moved to the edge and then docked where only the tabs show until the mouse goes over them. The size of tabs and docks are controlled from the easy to use configuration dialog.

Example of having multiple tabbed docks with just the tabs showing. 

Docks can be set up so that they're always on top (such as where the tabs show up on top of windows) or behave like normal windows that show up on top when you move your mouse to a specific position.

The tabs and dock backgrounds are skinnable. Use the ones in there or download more made by others. Change the color to any color you choose.

Organize your work as you like.

ObjectDock Plus supports Stardock fly-out menus (you have to see it in action to appreciate how cool this is). A great way to zip through graphic files drives, etc.

 

Manage your various docks through the ObjectDock Plus system tray item. Very straight forward to create and modify

I thoroughly understand and respect development and supporting developers of the products/services I use, which is why I own a copy of ObjectDesktop, I donate to nearly every website I'm a member of, and I donate blood, heh. OD was always marketed as a purchasable product or rather, set of products. I also understand the differences between shareware and freeware. Perhaps an article needs to be penned outlining developer ethics and distinguishing between freeware and shareware and distributed to these developers. You can't deny the practice of Stardock and other, similar companies enticing its users with supposed freeware and then going the shareware route under the same product name. If you're comfortable with that practice, more power to you, if you're apathetic, so be it, but it makes me feel some type of way, obviously

I'm sorry... but do u all REALLY think this looks "cool"?? TABS!!?? The whole point of the dock is to emulate the simplicity and functionality of the Apple dock bar... not to look like some rainbow colored rolodex! I think the whole idea of tabs is just insane, it looks like a kids desktop applications. Now, if it had integrated menus, like the KKMenu app, that would be cool. And flying folders? I can only imagine the resource hoggin now. They take the perfectly fine free version, add some silly bells and whistles and charge u 20 bucks for it. Incredible. and I'm also a paying ODNT member... having to pay for this is crazy. I abandoned ObjectDock a while ago... it diverted too much from what its supposed to be. YzDock and AquaDock are better, faster and smoother. These are my 2 cents on the issue. Everybody's entitled to his/her own opinion, so relax, cuz its America damnit!

There are alternative docks for OSX as well such as Dragthing which is a lot like this. http://www.dragthing.com/

Agree with WizKidPR! You're absolutely right, man!
Simplicity and functionality is the first and only reason that made me to setup ObjectDock on my PC...

BTW Dragthing is too complicated... tabs are suxx...

I'd buy that for a dollar (or 15)

I can quite easily go into a shop and walk out with 15 quids worth of magazines, only to have read them cover to cover inside 2 days (quid=£pounds so thats like 25-30 USD )

I've not been using a dock for a long while, but the extras that come with OD+ look good enough to me, so I'll probably buy as soon as Brad presses the big red button to turn on the purchase link.

Look, if you don't like ObjectDock, then don't use it.

If you do like ObjectDock, but only need basic functionality - use the free version

If you love ObjectDock and think the extra features are worth the (rediculously low) cost then buy the plus version.

Could it be any more simple?

Can't believe so much people feel to be forced to buy the plus version... Martin said it all. Regarding CursorXP : The free version just is fine, I only bought it to support a fine company and website, as I didn't need the Plus features at all (They are even still switched off in my config). But I feel the new features in OD+ are quite helpful for everydays work, so I will purchase that, too. And sorry, I can't take any people complaining about Object Desktop being expensive serious.

The free version of ObjectDock was never part of ODNT, so why should the plus version suddenly 'have' to be?I notice no one complained when they were getting it for free.

Interesting. If it was half that price for existing ODNT users I'd pony up the cash, but the extra functionality gained by the plus version of ODock isn't worth the money for me at least.
Now if Stardock started charging for basic ODock I'd have no choice but to pay, since I couldn't live without that now.

I think it should be part of ODNT too. If the curent price of ODNT doesn't cover it, up the price a little and add CursorXP to the pot.

c242: that's precisely the point. I don't feel forced to buy the Plus version at all, just like I never saw any reason to buy CXP+. But, on the other hand, an ODNT+ including OD and CXP and anything to come would feel much more interesting.

I'm definitely not taking out my credit card just for dock tabs (no matter how handy it can be to have tabs on all my desktop's side, like that OS9 feature I forget the name of). No matter how good OD+ is, many people won't be willing to fork out $15 just for tabs (and multiple docks, but you can alrady have multiple dock by using other docks at the same time).

c242: well since you feel so supportive for stardock, meybe you could buy a couple of us a copy of OD+ that way you can support stardock even more. Frankly I thought this release would be available to ODNT for the Beta at least for free, and maybe charge us a $5.00 upity charge for it. I think people shoule read Attila's posts more and really see his point, at this moment, Stardock fills the ODNT with a bunch of cool stuff, but it also has a lot of underdated useless junk like Control Center, BandVWM, Spring Folders... I would rather pay 10 bucks more collectively and get everything else into ODNT. I do confess that while I am a subscriber of ODNT, I do have Cursor XP+, cracked in my pc. Why? because I find it ridiculous to pay 115bucks for something I use sometimes... though I would buy it in odnt if they included it sometime.

About the ODNT $99 bucks deal, I just think, that Stardock should get permission from Microsoft, and sell a customized license of XP with all this mumbojumbo installed into the OS and configured so that form the install of the OS you get all the gui and stuff already installed in your PC. I think that that would be more eye attracking to anyone than anything else at this point.

I subscribe to ODNT , and all I run is WindowBlinds and IconPackager. DesktopX is great, if I could use my show desktop button without it mimizing DX too. I too wish OD+ was part of ODNT, but I suppose they have to make their money somehow. I did buy CursorXP+ but don't use the extra features.

I don't use but pay for:

Treeview, object sweeper, tab launch pad, spring folders, tweak shell, object edit, bandVWM, control centre, object zip, object dock, drive scan, object media, component tray, keyboard launchpad, skinstudio professional, icon developer, winFX or theme manager.


If I agree to never use any of those, can I get OD+ for free?
Or maybe you could make an ODNT Lite, with WindowBlinds, IconPackager, and OD+ ?

I agree with smoke-tetsu.
That ODNT could be custamisable by the end user in terms of what is in the subscription. Perhaps some kind of points system. So for your 35 a year you get x number of points with which to pick programs and fill your subscription.
This would work better for me, since I only use windowsblinds, skin studio and icon-packager, and to be honest I could live happily without icon packager. Then you could include the more development heavy apps like ODock, which I also use.

The idea of points sounds pretty cool. You could buy more points, of course, but what about the next year? And the next?

But no, I couldn't live without IconPackager. I have a pathological icon fetish.

I use True Launch Bar heavily and I also have dual monitors - but if the proggie lives up to the screenshots then I'm going to be hard pressed NOT to dump TLB in favour of it.

I shall have THE killer desktop in my company.
