Sometimes the word "why?" is just an exclamation. We don't really expect an answer. We just wish something hadn't happened. Yet, perhaps you might be able to answer the "why" part of this question: Why has a laser manufacturer produced a Star Wars-ish laser that it proudly describes as being "the most dangerous ever created"?

This item should never reach the open market... it is too open to abuse... and given the mentality of some, it would be a toy purely for getting up to no good... criminal and spiteful acts, etc. It should never be in the hands of the public, so I sincerely hope that it gets banned.

Hmm... I wonder, if with the use of some kind of focusing lens, if it could possibly cut through thin metals...
Would make an amazing lockpick, if it could.

Yeah...no more problems on a cloudy day. 
Of course, if you're in an airplane and someone 'clowns around'...well, you might get a lot closer to those ants a good deal faster than you'd like....
