BootSkin 1.05A

Okay, based on working with people who had problems with BootSkin 1.05, we have put out a version 1.05A. If you have previously had problems with BootSkin, please try this version and let us know if it solves your problems.
BootSkin is a program that safely lets you change your Windows XP boot screens. The problems we've been mentioning actually highlight BootSkin's safety -- no matter how badly a boot screen is made, you can always get back to Safe mode and recover. By contrast, other boot screen programs patch your Windows XP kernel and if something goes wrong there, well you can imagine. BootSkin doesn't modify any system files. Instead, it takes the form of a boot screen driver.

I had no Bootskin problems, until I installed the new version. I had to boot in safe mode and turn it off. Installed an old one and it works just fine.

Well, both version 1.05 and 1.05a have the blue screen error 50 with my via chipset laptop that 1.0 had. 1.02 still works fine on my laptop - so whatever you guys did to fix it the first time, put it back in!

Bootskin 1.05 and 1.05a doesn't work. 1.05 showed blank screen after displaying bootskin (have to restart) and 1.05a briefly displayed blue screen with error messages before rebooting.

Sorry, 1.05b_test still doesn't work. I remember one of the older version used to work.
Forgot to mention, I'm running WindowsXP Pro SP1 with all latest updates and am not running hybernation (disabled).

none of them work for me either.

nvidia GeForce4 MX420
Pentium 4 cpu. 2.40ghz.
If possible, can I get a link to 1.02 again...it worked fine.

Still not fixed for me
No version has worked since 1.01
1.02-1.04 died on a black screen
1.05 & 1.05a gives me a BSOD
Motherboard: MSI KT3Ultra2(MS-6308E) - (VIA KT333 based)
Display: nVidia Geforce 4 Ti 4200 - (PNY brand)
Sound: Creative Audigy Player
OS: Win XP Home
(On a side note it would be nice if the installer remembered the previous install location, instead of always offering the default)

Just one remark: i had to upgrade my PC's stuff in january with a new motherboard.
The old one was running a VIA chipset, the new one is an Intel chipset.
I kept the same graphic card with the same NVIDIA drivers.
With the old Motherboard card i had all kinds of strange troubles i couldn't define and locate with precision. No more troubles with the new one.
Maybe there's a link with Bootskin troubles and MotherBoard chipset ??

I installed the new version 1.05A. I also had to boot in safe mode and turn it off. System loops during boot process by restarting the whole system again and again.

Have tried 1.05, 1.05a and the 1.05b_test none of them seem to work, 1.05 gave me blue screen error and the other two just reboot the computer over and over.
Am running Windows XP home edition.
MSI Motherboard (MS-6390) - (VIA KM266)
AMD Athlon 2.4ghz processor
all previous versions worked fine

My system seems to do the reboot loop also. I have a inspiron 8200 with a Ge Force 440 Go video board. Unsing Xp Pro. This all seem to start with the 1.05 Version. Is there a way I can redownload a earlier version? Hmmm is this damaging my system/boot secotr?

No, this is not damaging your boot sector. In order to track down the problem we'll need a minidump of the blue screen. Minidumps are created in the windows\minidump directory each time the system blue screens(as long as they are configured to do so). To make sure you're creating minidumps, bring up the system control panel, advanced tab, and set the first combobox inside of "Write debugging information to "Small memory dump (64 KB)". Then when this file is generated, e-mail it to [email protected].

Well.. I just followed that procedure but no minidump file was created...
