WindowBlinds, DesktopX for MacOS X announced

Thursday, April 1, 2004 by Frogboy | Discussion: WinCustomize News

Stardock has been quietly working on MacOS X versions of WindowBlinds and DesktopX.  Next week, Stardock plans to open a public beta for MacOS X users of these new versions of Stardock's software.

The MacOS X version of WindowBlinds will integrate seamlessly in to Apple's Quartz engine. Existing WindowBlinds visual styles will be able to work on any 10.3 or later version of MacOS X.

With regards to DesktopX, all .dxpacks will be able to run as widgets on MacOS X 10.3 or later. Utilizing Quartz, DesktopX users on MacOS X can expect outstanding performance.  Stardock has developed a VBScript interpreter for MacOS X to handle DesktopX objects that use VBScript. Javascript will be handled natively by MacOS X.

Stardock doesn't plan to have all of Object Desktop for MacOS X. A bundle of DesktopX + WindowBlinds will be available for MacOS X for $34.95 in June.

Stay tuned for more details.

DarnThe elegance of a Mac and the beauty of the 'Blinds-sounds like a match made in heaven. Good April Fools Joke though.

Frogboy,
Not to sound stupid, but, is this really an April's Fool joke or is there really going to be a Windowblinds for MacOS X? And if so, shouldn't it be Macblinds?

I especially like that part. As if the OS X and the Windows interface were close enough to use the same skins. Hehehe!

Really, what's to say DX and WB could NEVER work on OSX? Personally, if it's true then I say GOOD. Sure, development would be long but lemme see....Brad got HIS Mac last year, so seems to me that it's probable that he wanted to get WB and DX going on it.

It seems completely possible (and I'm secretly hopin' its true... Panther converted me). Seems like StarDock and Apple had a rather tenuous relationship, however, in regards to ObjectDock.

I 'borrowed' a pre-release sub-alpha ver....and got it running on my Mac......[actually an Apple 11e....though all the skins were too big for the 6" screen]...
