BootSkin 1.01 released

BootSkin is a program that enables users to safely change the Windows XP and Windows 2000 boot screen. Since its recent release, hundreds of free boot screens have already been created (they're typically only 20K or less in size).
BootSkin 1.01 fixes an incompatibility with VIA motherboards that kept BootSkin from working on those systems (at this point, BootSkin should work on 100% of systems out there).
BootSkin is freeware. Stardock is also working on a BootSkin Plus which will allow users to apply true color boot screens (1024x768x16.8 million colors) but has no release date on that version.

Nakor, BootSkin doesnt work properly with the ATi card i have on my laptop! yikes! i got a BLUE screen before the bootscreen! and the computer shuts down. it was too bad ... and i choosed to boot in "Last known good configuration" mode.
please look into that matter. since mine is a P4, the BSODs dont last for even a sec. or a millisec. so, hard to read what it says... Microsoft has to fix this thing up!!!a wonderful program! BootSkin!! )
btw, how do u get a program runnin up at that time, in WindowsXP? there is no autoexec file. how come? program tricks? i guess it must be the Driver...

Lord, Vmal. Go ahead and try doing it then.
The reason we even attempted to do a high color version is because we thought you could just flip the card into VESA mode and voila. But it turns out to be much MUCH tougher than that. A lot of it has to do with just how early in the boot cycle this stuff s.
I hae an ATI on my laptop and BootSkin works great. (So does the alpha of BootSkin plus).

Please post some details on the ati chipset and general laptop info (Lord Vimal). If there's any .dmp files in \windows\minidump from this (or you can turn on the logging and make them), that might help too.
A lot of effort has gone into the Plus version and we are using it internally. But the stories about how different hardware is at boot times would curdle your blood.
More on availability in the future.

I understood mode 13 to be 320x200 256 colours, or have i got it wrong? (i have been known in the past

Doesn't screw around with your system OMG?!?!!?!? I downloaded the latest version of bootskin free, with skins that i got from THIS website, with xpPRO and all updates for mobo etc were up to date (VIA) FFS?!!!? biggest pain in the neck massive errors, kept on restarting and never booted (\vidstub.sys) error, had to that in repair mode and then reinstall xp, without formating luckily..but OMG?!?! when u say "(at this point, BootSkin should work on 100% of systems out there)" TRY AND MAKE SURE THATS TRUE! ffs, anyone know what the problem is?

No you misquoted that, obviously. It does NOT work on all systems. Some BIOSs won't support it at all.
If you can't get any of the available versions to work then it means you have one of those particular BIOSs, that's all...

Its been tested to work with the longhorn PDC build. But I've not personally tried it with 2003 server.
Should be ok there. Or flip into safe mode and remove \windows\system32\drivers\vidstub.sys worst-case.
